Intro: WiFi, WiFi everywhere. WiFi everywhere you go, no more bad connection. You can’t escape it. When you step outside, free WiFi. When you step inside, free WiFi. When you go to your technologically impaired Grandma’s house, free WiFi. When you’re going for a bike ride, free WiFi. This, is what happens when you have citywide WiFi. Aren’t you tired of getting nagged by your parents about going over your data limit on 3G or 4G? Aren’t you tired of those super expensive phone bills? The cheapest 2-year plan for an iPhone is $1,799.76. If that’s not expensive to you, then listen to this. The most expensive 2-year contract for the iPhone costs $3,360.00. Imagine getting to keep all of that money. You’d have thousands of dollars over just a few years. Free public WiFi for the entire city is not impossible, and it has been done. Corpus Christi has free public WiFi for the whole city, and when I went there, I didn’t have to use 3G once. Have you ever been to one of your friends houses and had to nag them for the WiFi password? Imagine never having to know the WiFi password for anything ever again. You could get a free texting app and save thousands of dollars a year. Imagine what you could do with that money. Buy a car. Buy the new XBox. Buy a bunch of new video games. With all of that money, you might be able to afford to buy one snack at the movie theatre. The only price you would pay for WiFi would be just a little extra tax. With a free public WiFi, you could watch videos, stream music, and download stuff without using any data.Public city WiFi has the potential to change the cell phone industry forever. If more cities adopt a public WiFi, then eventually, expensive 3G and 4G prices will go down, or go away completely! Are you tired of bad connection to school WiFi, where everything fun is blocked? Just connect to the city WiFi! Since the urban population relies on technology so much in our new generation,a free public WiFi could be very beneficial to our society.…

One of the key features of Nintendo DS, a successful portable game device, is its Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows users to play games with other players online around the world.[i] The utility of such online gaming will increase as the number of game players increases. Another important factor to ramp up the network effect in this case is the number of “Hotspots” where Wi-Fi connection is enabled. McDonald’s is one of the world’s most recognized restaurants, operating and franchising more than 30,000 local restaurants in 119 countries.[iii] It is a perfect partner of Nintendo in terms of boosting up the network effect.…

    Five Forces

The biggest threat to this industry is high barrier to entry. This is due to a number of factors. First, capital requirements are high because infrastructure is costly such as the fiber-optic lines that have been introduced to offer customers higher-priced, enhanced or bundled services. There is a medium level of industry concentration as the top four companies construct around 55% of the industry overall. Government regulations are also high, since operators must be licensed by the FCC through extensive registration. Thus programming rights, infrastructure investment, and high regulations present significant expenses and hardship for new firms entering. Barriers to entry, unlike all other factors in the five forces model, actually raises profits in a five forces analysis. This is because high barriers to entry prevent firms that could easily come into the market and take away profits.…

Wireless networks have become very popular in many households this is in part because it makes things convenient for the user. They physically do not have to sit in front of a computer to get access to it. I have a wireless network in my home and it is at times very useful. I have the freedom to move around and access the internet from anywhere in my home. I do not have to sit in front of my computer and use the computer which would be wired. With that one advantage will also come a disadvantage one that comes to mind is video streaming which would be a little stronger coming from a wired network. New security has been configured also and would make it hard to access as it would have to be in a certain operating distance. In doing my research I came across a variety of hotspots. These hotspots are businesses that will offer wireless internet access to its customers. Some of these businesses will offer this access free while you are in their establishment others will offer a paid service fee for the privilege to access the internet. In my research I found that one establishment The FedEx Office requires a fee of $29.99 a month to use it wireless networks. Two others that I researched the local train station and a Dunkin Donuts offers its customers free wireless access. All three also provide a user agreement and in that agreement it states that the establishment is not responsible for the user content and is not liable for what downloads that the user will…
