This includes determining the optimal level where production capabilities meet demand, maximum design service capacity at present and the additional investment needed to fulfill the growing demand and how fast the company fulfills the production requirements. Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. is a global leader in the field of plastic injection molding with state of the art design capabilities that has made the company competitive in the global market. Riordan has three operating entities in Georgia, Michigan and California plus a joint venture in the People 's Republic of China. Riordan expanded production and design of electric fans to an overseas operation plant in Hangzhou, China. The China plant is a decentralized unit that schedules production of electric fans to meet the forecasted sales. The current supply chain process in place is not efficient. Riordan Manufacturing will need a strategic capacity plan, which will provide an approach for determining the capacity level of capital-intensive resources—facilities, equipment, and overall labor force size—that best supports the company’s long-range competitive strategy (Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano, 2006). The goal is to provide an efficient and effective new process design and supply chain process for the electric fans at Riordan.…

Frontier Printers is a small-family business and has seen a 50% growth in the number of employees in the last three years. The departure of the press operator and the driver was attributed to a lack of opportunities for growth within the company. The firm plans on focusing on computer skills and cross-training. In the next two years the firm plans on integrating vertically by introducing new equipment that’ll allow the production of color separation which will reduce cycle time tremendously. This should help the company to increase its outputs more efficiently. The industry has experienced the introduction of various new technological advancements, one which will allow “direct-to-film” to occur that will eliminate the need for two of the employees in the Pre-Press department but will require two new jobs requiring technical skills in another department. The firm does not have any contingency plans for departure of current employees. Currently, a very limited amount of employees have the knowledge to operate the current software which could potentially have serious implications. There is also no formal job analysis evident or list of job descriptions to properly implement performance evaluations. There are no formal qualifications or training for new recruits as it is done on an ad hoc basis by the management team.…

Hines recognized that using a digital decal computer system to print the decals on CPs would be a nice attempt. The usage of the system will replace Hines by an unskilled worker who would be trained only several times. This will not only reduce Hines working time and increase the production capacity also control the whole production and design processes completely. If so, Hines can concentrate on working on butter chum lamps which will generate $210.00 profit ($350*0.6) for each week two to three additional units. However, the fixed cost of purchasing decal equipment will be $6600. If ECW wants to fulfill the order of 3000 CPs in coming year, the total variable cost will be $35,070.00. The profit will be $33,330.00 by subtracting $41,670(fixed cost + variable cost) from $75,000.00. But Hines concerned about the negative impacts by using decal computer system because she claimed that her pieces were “hand painted” and…

    1. After a lengthy discussion in their bedroom about Dylar, Jack tells her,“I’m tentatively scheduled to die. It won’t happen tomorrow or the next day. But it is in the works”. This is ironic because everyone is “tentatively scheduled die” at some point in their lives. He cannot tell Babbette when he is going to die because the computer technician did not even give him an estimated date. This is due to the fact that they do not know much about Nyodene D. The brief description of Jack’s diagnosis is satirizing how little information they computer technicians have about the possible side effects.…
