Case Study: Broken Shackle Ranch
I spoke with Brice Goodwin and his Ms. Belinda who is a lady that he labels as his grandmother. Ms. Belinda is the mother of Brice Goodwin’s stepdad that passed away. She reported that she needed help with getting Brice to have a clear understanding of going to the Broken Shackle Ranch which is a facility for troubled teens. The interviewed included Ms. Belinda, Brice Goodwin, and CM Gilmore at the local DFCS office. Ms. Belinda and Brice Goodwin provided the following:
• Didn’t want to go to the facility because they didn’t respect people who have mixed sexualities
• Brice reported that he is homeless and has no place to go
• Brice reported he has no family members that would allow him to stay with them
