Question: How will you define the business of SLL? Comment on the business plan of SLL and state your opinion on the likelihood of its business.
Answer: Muhammad Majeed, who is an owner of Sami Labs Ltd. (SLL) and Sabinsa Corporation. SLL is a manufacturer of specialized products based on Indian herbal extracts relying on the principal of ayurveda. Normally Indian companies export raw herbs but SLL emphasis on value addition through extraction. The export price of extracted products is more than double the price of raw herbs. The products of SLL has been used by the health conscious people round the world since long for cholesterol control, fat reduction and weight management Sami Labs Ltd (SLL) has three dozens of products as well as it has four manufacturing units.
Comment on Business Plan: The business plans of SLL are quite ambitious. The following are the business plans of SLL:
1. Setting up a product management team.
2. Assisting farmers in cultivation of pharmaceutically useful herbs.
3. International collaboration for developing research based intellectual property and its commercialization.
Comment: Setting up a product management team helps SLL to develop products, expand market, set up competitive price for its products and increase the sales. Indian farmers are naturally habituated with cultivation of herbs in a traditional way. SLL’s plan for assisting farmers helps them to cultivate herbs in a modern way. This assistance will ensure high quality of herbs. SLL is trying to be a global company and looking forward to being a Rs.500 Crore company by 2005. International collaboration for developing research based intellectual property and commercialization will help SLL to enhance its product quality, sharing of expert knowledge, minimize R & D cost and expand its business to international market easily.
