1. How does Lois Quam use emotions and moods in her speeches to convey her viewpoint? Cite examples to support your statements.
Lois Quam uses emotions and moods in her speech to persuade her audience to agree with her viewpoint by foreseeing positive outcome for the future. Towards the end of her speech about her philosophy, she said “Think about what we can achieve…think about the time sometime in the future when our work is reaching critical mass.” (Wiley W104) In this speech, she wants to convince her audience to imagine when all their hard work is paid off, and the future would be New Green Economy. Quam uses this powerful and determined attitude that can convince the audience to think yes we can do it. And she gives the audience a sense of probability to a cleaner future.
2. Based on what you have learned about Lois Quam, create hypotheses about the attitudes of her colleagues at Tysvar while using the three basic components of attitudes in your theories.
Lois Guam has the cognitive components towards her colleagues at Tysvar since she is the cofounder of the company and the company strives for a cleaner world. She puts her passion and beliefs into the company and it trickle downs on her colleagues and the employees, and addresses the positive affective component. Likewise, she expect that same attitude and behavior from the other professional around her.
3. Take a moment to research the Global Health Initiative. Why do you believe Lois Quam was chosen to lead this program?
The Global Health Initiative (GHI) is a health program that was designed to increase the impact that the United States have upon the world. According to www.ghi.gov, “GHI is the [innovated] way U.S. Government agencies conduct global health activities…expanding their impact for sustainable results around the world.” ("U.S. Global Health Initiative") Lois Quam was chosen to lead this program because she was the founder of the company Tysvar, LLC; a company whose “goal is
