Carpal Tunnel Research Paper
Defined: The wrist consists of 8 small bones; these bones create a tunnel that has three sides, this is where the concept of carpal tunnel is created. Soft tissues make up the palmer surface, which is the remaining side of the tunnel that is primarily made of the transverse carpal ligament, and this ligament has the ability to lengthen over the top of the tunnel. There are two nerves that share a passageway through the carpal tunnel; these nerves are the median nerve and the flexor tendons, which give our fingers the opportunity to bend. Being that the median nerve is in the wrist, when you squeeze your hand, nerve impulses then become more gradual or hindered and have a harder time traveling through the nerve.
