Careerleader Self Assessment
I chose to do the self-assessment of CareerLeader to try and help me get a feel for what career fields connect with my motivations and my interests. My interests rated as a personal high was not a surprise to me with the application of technology, being the highest score with 87. The description behind application of technology was interested in learning about and using new technologies. Enjoy analyzing and designing (or redesigning) business processes such as production and operations systems. Which is relatively true I enjoy doing in-depth research into the newest upcoming technology and how I can use it. The description section about enjoying analyzing the business process stood out to me, I catch myself doing this often in any situation I’m a part of. One thing CareerLeader said to be aware of was if I was seeking a job in the engineering field some places will not accept me if I do not have an engineering degree. I took this interest as being more relatable to the newest technology a company could use to help its sales, finances, and PR. …show more content…
Naturally I assume a role as a person who likes to take initiative and start the project. I always come up with two or three ideas when doing a group project or assignment. My decision is not always chosen but I make sure to offer some idea to the group. I have held many leadership roles throughout my college career within my social organization. I have had to delegate roles to others at times, allowing them to grow and generate new ideas. The things to be aware of with this being my highest motivator is it can be perceived as impatient for advancement and arrogant at times. Security was my second highest motivator with a score of 10. My third highest score was the motivation to have an intellectual challenge with a 9. I assumed this would be my second highest score, I am always looking for a complex

Career Concept Profile is when employers notice that employees follow this type of pattern: “career types steady, linear, state, expert, transitory or spiral”, according to (Brousseau et. 1996). Each type will fit into the organization as a piece to a puzzle. The linear career type is working hard trying to move up the corporate ladder. Expert, steady and state career types use their trade skills and are not looking for advancements. They choose to let their skill grow on the job over time. Spiral career types are focused on the experience that comes with learning the job. Lastly transitory career types work only to complete task and would do the chore just to move on to something that they would enjoy doing better. Employers are looking for employee’s to fit well in an organization, and supply the skills and personality that will enhance the organization.…

I have had many jobs over the last 10 years but I think there is one that left me the most knowledge when it comes to leadership motivation, and also I think that it left a positive impact on me. The company I am going to describe is Victoria’s Secret. I was the operations and staffing supervisor at one of the retail stores, my direct report was the brand delivery and operations manager and this is the person who I want to describe. She had excellent leadership skills, and even though some of the decisions she made sometimes didn’t seem fair they taught me how to be fair and to treat everyone with respect and equally. What I learned was that as a manager we should always make sure we motivate our team and recognize their efforts as well as coach their mistakes. Her biggest skill was the motivation of the team; if the team was happy and motivated then they would always do a better job. Some of the negative things that I observed from here where that sometimes she had preferences for some employees than others, and sometimes she didn’t give everyone the chance to grow and develop inside the company. Even though this was a negative impact, I learned that it was wrong and that everyone deserves a chance to evolve. (Williams, 2013)…

The results from the survey gave me a better understanding of my interest in the career field. When exploring each personality profile, I discovered that the letter “C” profile offered the most types of careers that would best suit my interests. The career that I selected from the list was the career of computer operator. Computers play a large part in our society today. They are used for various personal and business reasons and many people would find it difficult to live without them. For this reason, computer-related jobs are quite prominent in the job market. A computer operator has various duties depending on their specific job title and place of employment.…

The career plan building activities proved to be a very useful tool. The work culture preference survey results indicated the type of work culture that I prefer, which is ethical, high powered, and expert. The competencies, reasoning aptitude, and career interest profiler surveys provided additional information to consider. The combined results provide an interpretation of the type of work culture that I see as ideal, the most suitable career fields, and the types of work environments I prefer. I am open to new information and ideas and the survey results did not seem to be too far off from what I would consider to be my true career goals and desires. I think the surveys provided insight to aspects of my career I had not given much thought to before this course.…

When I was in school I took a test, which gave me suggestions on what I should do in life as an adult. I believe that the test that I took influenced my personality, and the type of attitude that I had in time of conflict, and situations. Each suggestion that I was given would have me to be a leader. I believe that in order to lead, a leader must have walked were other are trying to go. Leaders have the challenge of serving those employees, or students who they lead.
