Capulet
I’m now gonna talk about the patriarch of the Capulet family Lord Capulet, father of Juliet, husband of Lady Capulet, and enemy of Montague; and his sight on love.

He believe he knows what is best for Juliet who he truly loves, though he is not well acquainted with Juliet’s thoughts or feelings. He says that his consent to the marriage depends upon what she wants and tells Paris that if he wants to marry her he should wait a while then ask for her hand.
Later, however, when Juliet is grieving over Romeo being sent away, Capulet thinks her sorrow is due to Tybalt's death and in a misguided attempt to cheer her up, he wants to surprise her by arranging a marriage between her and Paris – the catch is that she has to be "ruled" by her father and to accept the proposal. When she refuses to become Paris's "joyful bride", saying that she can "never be proud of what she hates", he becomes furious, threatening to send her to the streets.

He fixes the day of the marriage for Thursday and suddenly advances it to Wednesday out of anger and impulse. His actions indicate that his daughter's wants were irrelevant all the way up to the point when he sees her unconscious on her bed.

Lady Capulet calls to her daughter. Juliet wonders why her mother would come to speak to her so early in the morning. Unaware that her daughter is married to Romeo, Lady Capulet enters the room and mistakes Juliet’s tears as continued grief for Tybalt. Lady Capulet tells Juliet of her deep desire to see “the villain Romeo” dead (3.5.80). In a complicated bit of punning every bit as impressive as the sexual punning of Mercutio and Romeo, Juliet leads her mother to believe that she also wishes Romeo’s death, when in fact she is firmly stating her love for him. Lady Capulet tells Juliet about Capulet’s plan for her to marry Paris on Thursday, explaining that he wishes to make her happy. Juliet is appalled. She rejects the match, saying “I will not marry yet; and when I do, I swear / It shall be…

Blaming a person who only wanted to show honor to ones kin's long-standing tradition seems absurd. However, people often accuse Tybalt Capulet from Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the play, Tybalt made various impulsive actions and choices which were not the best, but inevitably his responses were not irrelevant. Tybalt did not cause the tragic amount of deaths in Verona. He was merely trying to keep up with the feud. Mercutio induced Tybalt into their duel and Mercutio's death was accidental.…

Lord Capulet reaction to Juliet’s refusal to marry Paris pushes her to such an extent that she must run away with Friar Lawrence’s plan. Had they been more concerned, Lord Capulet was so intent on saving his reputation; he did not realize all the pain he was putting his child through. He also speeds up the day off marriage with Paris, without Juliet’s consent. Lord Capulet from what we know has a temper, and when he hears that Juliet does not want to marry Paris this angers him extremely. “What’s this? What’s this? Subtle hairsplitting! What’s this? Proud, and Thank you and no, thanks- and even not proud. You cheeky girl, you, I’ll have none of your thanks, thank you, none of your, proud! Just get your fine self-ready for next Thursday, to go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, or I’ll drag you there on a sled! Pah! You sick looking object! Get away with you, you minx! You coward!” (Act 3 Scene 5 pg.183) Being blinded by anger, he goes to the extremes not thinking how this might affect how his “loyal” daughter might react, and says he will disown her. “Be hanged with you, you hussy, you disobedient wretch! I’ll tell you what: get to church on Thursday, or never look at me in the face again. Don’t say anything. Don’t reply! My fingers are itching! Wife, we thought we were very lucky that God gave us this only child-but now I realize we’ve been cursed in having her!” (Act 3 Scene 5…

A perfect example of this is Juliet's arranged marriage to Count Paris. Juliet was only thirteen years old, yet her parents were making major adult decisions for her to satisfy their own need. Although Juliet was still mourning the loss of her loved cousin, Tybalt, Capulet and Lady Capulet disregarded her feelings and moved on by planning her marriage to Paris the same day Tybalt is killed by Romeo. "…much of grief shows still some want of wit." (III, v, 76) This is Juliet's own mother telling her that her mourning is stupid. A mother who truly cares for her daughter's well-being would help her get through the tragic death of Tybalt and try to lighten her grief. In response to Juliet's refusal to marry Paris, Lady Capulet once again manifests a care for herself over her weeping daughter. "I would the fool were married to her grave." (III, v, 145) This is, not only foreshadowing to Juliet's eventual suicide, but also a concern for her family name over her daughter's wishes. Capulet, Juliet's father, shows that his attitude is no better than his wife's. He becomes enraged and calls her such words as "green-sickness carrion", "baggage", "disobedient wretch", and "hilding." (III, v, 161-175) Such insults and harsh words show that Capulet is much more concerned with how he will be viewed by Paris and Paris's kinsman, Prince Escalus of Verona.…

Romeo was in love with a girl, Rosaline, but rosaline decided she wanted to become a nun, which means she could not get married. This set off Romeo and could not forget the face of Rosaline . The sparks went off in benvolio's head as a Capulet servant approached and requested Romeo to help him. As the servant left benvolio ”At this same ancient feast of Capulet’s Sups the fair Rosaline whom thou so loves With all the admired beauties of Verona. Go thither, and with unattainted eye Compare her face with some that I shall show, And I will make thee think thy swan a crow”(I.i.84-89). The consequence of this piece is not bad but good. This forces Romeo to forget about Rosaline and fall in love with a new girl, the daughter of his greatest enemy, Juliet. Lord Capulet made the biggest mistake of the all,”Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church o' Thursday, Or never after look me in the face. Speak not. Reply not. Do not answer me. My fingers itch.—Wife, we scarce thought us blest that God had lent us but this only child, But now I see this one is one too much And that we have a curse in having her. Out on her, hilding!”(III. v. 160-168). Lord Capulet should've thought about what he was saying. Juliet doesn't want to marry County Paris because she is already in love. This one thing set off a chain reaction, Juliet fakes her death, Romeo finds out she “died”, Romeo kills himself, Juliet wakes up, and then kills herself all because of lord Capulet arranging a marriage for Juliet and…

Another, significant factor in Lady Capulet’ s failure to do what is in the best interest of her family, is her lack of power and voice as a women in the Elizabethan Era. During the initial civil brawl Capulet wants to take part in the fighting, not addressing the fact he is an older man, in a rage he calls for, “my long sword, ho!” (1.1.76) In response to this Lady Capulet tries to stop her husband by calling at him, “A crutch, a crutch! why call you for a sword?” (1.1.77) She tries to use humor to stop her husband from fighting, but one moment later he again is calling “My sword, I say!” (1.1.79) Spite of his wife wanting him to be careful and not to get into the brawl. This displays exactly little power and say Lady Capulets has in any of…

Lord Capulet is informing Juliet that she is to get married on Thursday. He forces Juliet to get married to Paris. Here is what Lord Capulet says: “disobedient wretch!/ I tell thee what - get thee to church a Thursday/ Or never after look me in the face/ Speak not, reply not, do not answer me/ My fingers itch. Wife we scarce thought us blest” (3.5.161-165) Juliet isn’t in love with Paris, and he father is forcing the marriage which gets her more upset. That has a huge effect because it is then the whole reason why Juliet took the actions that she did. Which made Romeo then take actions as well. Capulet wanted the best for his daughter but he wasn’t aware of the love she already had for someone else. Juliet's secrecy and him trying to force something just made it worse for the two star-crossed lovers to be together. Capulet is the cause of many events that occurred. He was trying to separate them even more than they already…

Lord Capulet could have put forth more effort to stop the danger of their feud. He, just like Lord Montague did nothing to stop their dangerous feud. Capulet did not attempt to better the relationship between Tybalt and Romeo, and he forced Juliet to marry Paris when she was in love with Romeo. Capulet said that the hate between Montagues and Capulets caused the two lovers to take their lives. After their deaths he said, "As rich shall Romeo's by his lady's lie, poor sacrifices of our enmity."…

Romeo and Juliet is a play about 2 star-crossed lovers from the rival families, Capulet and Montague. The two families are always fighting and brawling on the streets of Verona. When Romeo is banished for killing Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, they create a daring plan to get themselves to Mantua, where they will happily live out their lives together. Sadly, the plan goes terribly wrong and Romeo and Juliet both end up dead in the Capulet Tomb. I believe that Lord Capulet, Juliet’s ostentatious father is entirely to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. His actions sent them down on the path that eventually ended in death and anguish. If Lord Capulet had made different decisions Romeo and Juliet might have still been alive at the end of the play.…

Throughout the story, he attempts to save himself any trouble, and make himself look as good as possible. Some of the actions he chooses to follow result in the story unfolding in a completely different direction and ruining Romeo and Juliet’s plans, as he does many things spontaneously without asking anybody else what they think about the matter at hand. An event with this clear is when he arranges Juliet’s marriage to Paris, without consulting his wife or Juliet beforehand. Without faltering he declares to his wife, “A Thursday let it be-a Thursday, tell her, / She shall be married to this noble earl” (3.4.23-24). Juliet is forcefully against the said marriage, as she has already wed Romeo and loves him dear, and makes quite rash decisions because of it. Capulet clearly leaves his mark on the story, altering the way everything comes together in an attempt to improve his social status, but ending in the death of his daughter and her…
