Introduction
The popularity and worldwide success of Canadian Club can be attributed to more than just its great flavour. Review of key marketing components has given an all around understanding of the thought process involved in ensuring the success of this company. These components include, the analysis of the product, pricing, competition, target market, position within the market, distribution, marketing communications, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).
Overview
Overall, Canadian Club’s marketing operation is effective, drawing from its classic image. The product’s target market is primarily males, aged 25-35, living in urbanized regions, with an $80,000 to $100,000 salary. Canadian Club offers a smooth taste with the industry standard potency in comparison to its competitors. The product is priced slightly below average at $24.40 for 26 oz (LCBO, 2011). In Canada, it is mainly distributed through Crown corporations and is available at any licensed establishment, along with its competitors.
Canadian Club has promoted itself as a classic beverage for mature, yet adventurous adults and has focused a great deal of attention on its unique history, in advertising and promotions. The marketing efforts of Canadian Club are unique to their competitors and have resulted in world records, including the world’s longest running international advertising campaign, and the world’s longest running promotion (Canadian Club, 2011) (Hide-A-Case, 2011). As a result of this, Canadian Club has seen an increase in sales and attention in the media.

    Vincor is a well established wine and wine-related producer based out of Mississauga Ontario. Vincor wants to use their current success and venture into the refreshment market by introducing a new line of coolers. In order to do this Vincor will have to decide what type of cooler to produce as well as the design, packaging, price and marketing strategy. Market research was conducted to determine who the consumers in the alcoholic refreshment industry were, what their interests were and what the current trends were. Vincor determined that 56% of Canadians 19 and older claimed to drink one or more of the different types of refreshment beverages. Of these, 57% of refreshment drinkers were determined to be female while 43% were men. Vodka or spirit coolers were found to be the most popular cooler choice, followed by wine coolers, hard lemonades and then ciders. There are currently several well established competitors in the market. Smirnoff Ice is the current market leader with their premium vodka cooler, Bacardi Breezer’s rum based cooler is a close second and Mike’s Hard Lemonade is also popular with both females and males. There are 5 different options available to introduce into the market. The options to produce are as follows: 1. Real Fruit Juice Cooler 2. Gin Cooler 3. Spring Water Cooler 4. Tequila Cooler 5. Energy Cooler Based on the information available we have determined that alternative 1, produce a real fruit juice cooler, would be the best option for Vincor. Research showed that fruit juice coolers were preferred most among the 19-22 year olds. It was also determined to be favoured among men and Quebecers. Qualitative research revealed that non-carbonation was a strong selling point, while natural sweetness resonated best of all.     It has been providing convenient access to alcohol with its thousands of locations across Ontario. With that being said, it continues to improve its efficiency and effectiveness by working with the government. The LCBO has no need to privatize and it remains a public entity working with effectiveness and efficiency. It continues to remain effective by expanding its services to the grocery sector as well as online. The effectiveness of the LCBO can be determined simply by looking at its revenues. In addition to providing alcohol through its stores, the LCBO as previously stated, provides alcohol to the grocery sector. However, according to the 2016-2017 annual report compiled by the LCBO, the revenues made during that year amounted to 5.89 billion dollars. This amount is much more compared to the revenues made by the grocery store which amounts to 65 million dollars.
