The telephone is known as one of the greatest inventions in the world. The invention of the telephone made a huge difference. Now, we are able communicate to people easily and also call for help. Alexander Graham Bell created one of the greatest innovations of the modern age, the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell was born in Scotland, but immigrated to Canada as a child. At first, Alexander Graham Bell was interested in studying acoustics which was inspired by his deaf mother, Eliza. For his mother to hear him, he spoke by controlled tones directly into his mother's forehead. Two years later, he made a school for the deaf because of his mother. While teaching, he realized the means of transmitting the telegraph. In 1874, the idea of inventing the telephone came to his mind. He later stated “If I could make a current of electricity vary in intensity precisely as air varied in density during the production of sound, I should be able to transmit speech telegraphically”. Two years later, he signed up for the invention of the telephone and it became a success. Before he started, he created diagrams and notes from his father's diary to make the invention possible. Finally, on March 1876, Alexander Graham Bell's telephone invention was granted as the first official patent. On August 10, 1876, a call from his hometown in Branford was known as the world's first long distance call. It was the Great Philadelphia Centennial …show more content…
Thomas edison wasn’t even close to creating the light bulb. Two Canadians had the idea to invent what many inventors attempted but failed, the incandescent light bulb. Henry Woodward and a hotel employee, Matthew Evans were neighbors who called themselves scientists. Woodward and Evans created a model radiant bulb with a carbon rod filament that had a resemblance with an invention that was created by a scientist Joseph Swan 20 years ago. Their light bulb contained a tube made of glass filled with inert nitrogen, and a large piece of carbon connected to two wires. The rod filament was later taken to a boiler level and was connected to each end. Of course, they experimented with possible prototypes before creating the carbon rod. Though Henry Woodward and Matthew Evans are the original inventors, Thomas Edison was the one who brought it to the world. Because of financial problems, Woodward and Evans sold their creation to Thomas Edison in 1875. Thomas Edison was granted with the invention and also created the incandescent lamp after. As Thomas Edison bought half of Woodward and Evans invention their work driven to a better world, and the two of them vanished into history. The only thing we know is that Woodward’s creation was invented in Canada, and was sold to Thomas Edison (Ricketts
