There are also three Ws that can make a good camping trip which are when, where, and who.

In order to have a good camping trip, when to go camping is essential. In other words, people need to choose a time it is suitable. First, people should choose the best time for a camping trip. Second, people should plan to go for a camping trip during a good weather. For instance, people should not choose a time during the rainy season. This is significant because despite being out in the woods, one has access to things such as running water and its many useful applications. For example, the running water can be used to do chores such as wash the dishes, provide a way to acquire clean water for food preparation, and even allows one to take a cold shower under certain circumstances. As a result, the camping experience can be tackled with the hygienic cleanliness usually left at less modernly accommodating campsites. This results in a pleasing camping experience where you are able to utilize the conventions of a sink in the wilderness, moreover this also includes clean facilities in case some would rather not rough it out in the woods when it comes time for nature to take its…

The bikes pass under the canopy of pine trees and through the line of junior counselors waving bright yellow oars in the air, while the rest of camp cheers us on. Arriving at the dock, one by one we toss our mountain bikes on the ground and join the line of people waiting to perform the ritual belly flop into Fan Lake. The crowd cringes in sympathy as each body hits the water. My heart races when it is finally my turn to jump with my arms and legs spread from the diving board. My stomach aches when I hit the water, but not as much as my legs do from riding 300 miles in a week. Splashing in the lake, I am amazed to have just completed the bike trip that begins the transition from camper to counselor at Camp Reed.…

Camping and being in the outdoors has been a significant part of my life for the last eight years. As a child, I never enjoyed it much. Three years ago, my family along with four other families decided to take a trip to Glacier National Park. The sky-piercing mountains and the beautiful lakes urged me to explore the outdoors more. From hiking through the mountainous trails to driving up the mountains through the Going-to-the-Sun road, I finally began to realize the relief and soothing sense that nature had to offer. Despite the love I finally found in the outdoors, I was never the dedicated and…

From personal experience, it is not an easy thing to do especially during winter. My longest campout was 14 hours in Los Angeles for Bape’s grand opening. At that time Bape was one of the biggest names in street wear and the only other Bape store in the country was in New York, so this was a big deal. The whole line of people looked like a painter’s palette. An hour before the store opened there were over a hundred people in line with chairs, umbrellas, and ice chests. The worst part about that trip is that there is no shop or restaurants open before 12pm and it made using the restroom extremely hard. This is an extreme though, there are anywhere between 5 to 50 people sleeping in front of a store in LA depending on the release. Now there is never that many people camping out here at our local spot. The most people I have seen are about 10 people. Camping out during the winter here also isn’t that great. Usually sneakers release on Saturday mornings and everybody camps Friday night, which also happens to be when they power wash River Park where the shop is located. The manager of the store even ordered us a couple pizzas a night we were there. One good thing about campouts are that you get to meet a lot of people who have at least one thing in common and you might build a friendship with the owners and workers of the store or even people you meet in line. I have met a lot of people who I am now friends with because of campouts. You are almost forced to make conversations with people you’ll be with them for hours. So you actually get something out of campouts besides whatever you are there to buy. Some people leave empty handed, but others leave with the best…

In my earlier years my family took me camping to a lake. My cousins came as well, which made it even more enjoyable. When we arrived at the campsite, I was in awe. It was something out of a Disney movie. There were towering pine trees shielding us from the sun’s rays. Wild plants and bushes surrounded our campsite, but not too far away was a clearing in the bushes where we can see the lake in all its glory. People were fishing, kayaking, swimming, and playing with their dogs.…
