Cadbury Dairy Milk
INTRODUCTION:
Cadbury is a leading global company, which was in Birmingham in England when John Cadbury started his family grocery shop with side business of cocoa and chocolate products in around 1824. His two sons, Richard and George, expanded their family business of cocoa and chocolate. Their headquarters are in the UK.
Cadbury enjoys a value market share of over 70%.
CADBURY IN INDIA:
In India, Cadbury began its operations in 1948 by importing chocolates. After 60 years of existence, it today has five company-owned manufacturing facilities. The corporate office is in Mumbai.
CONSUMERS VIEW:
Customers get sentimental and emotionally attached. We can see that it had really affected the minds and psychology of consumers E.g.-when the company advertised its brand by tag lines “Aaj Pehli Tarik Hai”, ” Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye " and “Pappu Paas Ho Gaya”. However, the consumers had stopped purchasing the bars for sometime after the worm controversy.

The purpose of segmentation is to identify and target prime customer groups.
Division of consumer market on the basis of: Geographic and Demographic Segmentation.

TARGETING:
The targeted customers of Dairy Milk have been changing from time to time and advertisement to advertisement.
POSITIONING:
CDM has positioned itself as synonym for the word chocolate.
Chocolates were earlier perceived as a product meant for consumption by children. Since the 1990’s, Cadbury has been endeavouring to position itself as a chocolate for the ‘child within each of us’.

High quality cocoa beans are used. 6 major products are manufactured under Cadbury Dairy Milk.

    Where Cadbury has used the marketing strategy of branding they have been massively successful, their logo is iconic, it is recognised worldwide, it is most recognised in the U.K this is more than likely due to the fact that Cadbury originates from the U.K, so it advertised more. The logo has been around for many decades now it has weaved its way into people's perception of what chocolate is, when people think of chocolate the first thing is a bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk, that is how much it has been plastered around for years. The use of this logo has enabled Cadbury to sell billions of their products over many years as it is the simplest way for people to recognise the company which then creates a craving for chocolate, they will then purchase a Cadbury's chocolate bar, so it is easy to say that Cadbury have market very well using the strategy of Branding. Another aspect of branding in which Cadbury has made strong uses of is the colour and text, they have packaged all their products in a darkish purple, this shade of purple is perceived to be luxurious, smooth and comforting, and when these colours are seen you instantaneously think of Cadbury which makes you think that their chocolate bars are luxurious, smooth and comforting, all the things a customer wants from a chocolate bar. The text itself, saying "Cadbury", is written in an elegant font and also is thick, so it looks like Cadbury is written in chocolate although is still stylish and grand.
