Business Continuity Planning and Strategic Pre-Incident Change
Essay: Business Continuity and strategic pre-incident changes the company would follow to ensure the well-being of the enterprise.

Pre-Incident Planning:
Good Business Continuity Planning starts with being proactive. That means taking concrete steps to plan for an incident much before it actually strikes. There is no one single approach that fits for all types of incidents as no two emergencies are identical. Much of business continuity planning varies based on the size of the company, company’s line of business, and the locations of the company, customers and suppliers.

Planning for the business continuity of GlobalNet in the aftermath of a disaster is a complex task. Preparation for, response to, and recovery from a disaster affecting the business functions of the Company requires the cooperative efforts of many support organizations in partnership with the functional areas supporting the "business" of GlobalNet. This document records the Plan that outlines and coordinates these efforts.

This section outlines the organization’s pre-incident strategy for responding to emergency or disaster, provides information essential to continuity of critical business functions, and identifies the resources needed to: * Ensure safety of employees * Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders * Provide timely emergency support to the business functions * Protect assets and vital records (electronic data and hardcopy) * Maintain continuity of mission-critical services and support operations * Ensure that measures are in place and readily implemented for the protection and preservation of financial, intellectual, and intangible property and assets of the company – including its reputation, public relations, and accumulated good will.

Some potential advantages and challenges associated with communicating within the organization and with the public and private sectors are principles of collaboration. No single sector is prepared with all the resources, knowledge and capability necessary to respond to large scale disasters. Other challenges that may arise are increased population density, increased population settlement, increased technology hazards or dependency, increased risk of terrorism, emerging infectious disease and increased global and international travel ("Effective Risk and Crisis Information", 2012).…
