Information : this comes from a wide variety of sources and an effective business person will research information from a range of sources before making decisions.
Verbal information : Face-to-face verbal communication is best way to communicate . There is less scope for misunderstanding and it allows for verbal and non-verbal massages .
Written information : Writing is the use of physical symbols to present words . Words are the sounds that make up speech . But this definition can be broadened to include other forms of physical representation , such as diagrams , graphs and charts – in other words , all types of visual representation . All forms of numerical representation can be included under this heading as well .
On-screen information : Information may be produced on-screen . This can be seen in multimedia TV and CD-ROMs that combine text , graphics , animation , audio and video .
Multimedia information : The term ‘multimedia’ simply means multiple forms of media integrated together . Media can be text, graphics, audio, animation, video, data, and so on.
Web-based information : Web-based information displays many benefits of multimedia technology. Using today’s broadband connections, it is possible to stream sophisticated content anywhere in the world.
Updating knowledge : It is imperative that businesses keep up to date with changes that are occurring within their markets.
Informing future developments : A business that does not adopt, develop and grow will quickly find itself left behind by the competition. But development need to based on informed decisions.
Strategic direction : Strategic management is a process by which organizations determine their purpose, objectives and desired levels of attainment.
SWOT : strength, weakness, opportunities and threats .
Offering competitive insight : Business need to be aware of what their competitors are doing, to ensure they do not fall behind and lose sales and market share.
