OUTCOME 1: Understand how to improve own performance 1. 1.1 Explain the purpose and benefits of continuously improving performance at work

The purpose:

* To exceed your limitations. * Achieve personal goals. * Impress corporate officials. * Increase income if on a piece-rate. * Self-motivation. * Satisfaction.
The reason: * To attain standard performance * To exceed one's actual performance * Benefits * your efficiency and effectiveness increases productivity

By continuously improving your performance at work, you are exceeding your own limitations/performance, learning new skills and producing quality work that meets the high standards of your organisation. You are achieving your targets and goals because you are putting more effort into your work. Not only does this impress your employer and colleagues and gives you more chance of increasing your income or getting a promotion, it also gives you the motivation you need to proceed with your work. Your efficiency and effectiveness in producing work will give you a sense of satisfaction, as well as receiving positive feedback from the people around you.

1.2 The purpose and benefits of encouraging and accepting feedback from others

The benefits of encouraging and accepting feedback is to help you improve in your work, learn from your mistakes and to help you feel more confident in the work that you are doing correctly. Feedback also helps us see ourselves from the perspective of others - to see ourselves as others see us. We learn a great deal from the feedback of others. It therefore can encourage you in continuing your present path or discourage you in repeating the same errors. it keeps the line of communication open and communication is vital to keep any type of relationship healthy. It helps one to grow and develop as a person
