Bundu Ics Report
Report on Improved Cooking Stove (ICS)

The habitation of Bundu block is mostly rural in nature .therefore for the kitchen purpose they used fuel wood as a input source to prepare the food. Which they bring from nearby forest area or they used to cut the live trees. Burning of fuel wood also generate the carbon dioxide which is a dangerous gas which is inhaled by the rural families of Bundu .which become a major causal organism for the rural people. The traditional stoves intake more bioenergy to generate the intrinsic energy to cook the food in compare to the ICS (Improved Cooking Stoves). Besides the carbon dioxide the blackening of room is also a major drawback and problem of the traditional stoves which runs through the fuel wood. The major advantages of ICS are as follows:

1. Improved cooking stove (ICS) is a device that is designed to improve combustion efficiency of biomass, consume less fuel, save cooking time, convenient in cooking process and creates smokeless environment in the kitchen or reduction in the volume of smoke produced during cooking against the traditional stove. 2. More than 70% of Indians live in rural areas and they use wood burning cook stoves for cooking their food. 3. The wood burning stoves currently in use in villages operate at an efficiency level as low as 6-8%. This results in increase in demand of firewood that accelerates the felling of wood resulting in deforestation. However, with a little effort, it is possible to increase the thermal efficiency of these stoves considerably. 4. Improved fuel wood stoves would reduce: i. Firewood consumption substantially ii. Pressure on CPR/Forest iii. Time and effort on collection of firewood iv. Smoke related health hazard as women are at high risk due to long v. exposure to smoke vi. Environmental hazard and thereby make their utility economical & efficient.

5. Keeping the above context in mind, DESI Technology Solutions provides

The purpose of this lab experiment was to test which area of three designated areas in a Bunsen Burner flame would have the highest temperature. The first position was the tip of the blue outer flame, the second position being the tip of the inner cone, and the last position being half way down the inner flame. Through the courses of the experiment, data collected showed that Position A was the hottest of the three. The highest average temperature of the flame in effects to a beaker of water was 36.0°C as compared to 34.9°C and 30.8°C. Based on the data, it is concluded that Position A is the hottest.…

In a forests life, the process of a fire starting and destroying the trees and underbrush in a forest is an important cycle. It helps to improve the life span of the vegetation and animals living in it. With the rise in wildfires all over the country, researchers say that controlled burns will help reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires. Many people think of fire as only being dangerous and destructive to the environment, these beliefs are inaccurate but, not entirely wrong, while fire does destroy things to the eye and pollutes the air; it is also feeding the forest.…

The tribes living in Borneo and the Amazon rainforests are being disturbed due to people coming in and destroying the rainforest as different parts are demanded for different uses, e.g. some plants are extracted for medicinal use; mahogany trees are deforested and cut down as the wood can be made into expensive and luxurious furniture. In the cases of Borneo and the Amazon, however, areas are being deforested in order to free up some fertile land for use to grow bio-fuels. Many people are seeing bio-fuels as the future resource, but many problems and disadvantages accompany this idea, largely on the basis of biodiversity as well as socially transforming the…

People had to travel far to get wood to keep their homes warm. The heat of the burning wood would travel right up their chimneys and did not heat their homes very well, so Benjamin Franklin invented the Franklin Stove, which was a cast iron box in which a fire burned. The box prevented heat from escaping and caused heat to radiate from all four sides and fill the room with warmth. The stove’s air flow could be adjusted to control the rate at which the wood was burned. The stove was also safer than the typical fireplace because it prevented stray sparks from starting fires outside the fireplace (Appendix E). The Franklin Stove was a great invention because it was more efficient and safer than the heating device at the time, a fireplace (Fuller,…

Probably the most shocking thing I learned during all this was that some fires and controlled burns are actually good for not only the woods itself but it is also beneficial to the surrounding ecosystem. The burns prevent the forest from becoming overgrown, and make them unmanageable. Burns also help to get rid of the bottomland species that seem to dominate most forest floors. We were also made aware that the best time to burn is during the lightning season, and that most woodland needed to be burned about once every third year.…

Rosewood extraction methods are also incredibly inefficient. Due to the ever growing need to go farther into the forests, loggers are finding themselves further from the coast. Thus, for every rosewood tree obtained, four or five more buoyant trees are harvested to build a raft for the rosewood log (Global Witness & Environmental Investigation Agency, 2010). This furthers aridification of the landscape, reducing local species diversity and produces an increased probability of forest fires.…

I know you're thinking how would you do this, but I'll tell you this secret about the process. First they find unemployed people to cut clear cut wood into cane width strips going out about 5 ft long. Next they set it on the fire in a an underground and closed area, then they fire the wood into charcoal in home fires, it keeps it less smoky, and would you believe it takes 10 kilos of wood to make just one kilo of wood charcoal. There is only less than 1% of Djibouti's total land area forest, most likely because all the trees get cut down for wood charcoal. Djibouti is also inclusive of acacia and doum palm trees around and the exportation of the wood charcoal started in 1990. It's now the 193rd largest export economy in the world. Djibouti's most important asset has to be it's strategic location in a busy shipping route between the Indian Ocean and the…

Wildfires are a vital and a natural part of nature. They play a role in shaping ecosystem by serving as an instrument of disruption and renovation. For this reason, humans have learned to harness its power and use it for thousand of years as a land management tool. They continuously use it to bring out its positive benefits such as cleaning up forests of dead and decaying mater and maintaining ecosystem balance between beneficial and harmful plants and animals. However, as a result of change in climate in combination with human use (and misuse) of fire, fires are now a major threat to many forests and their biodiversity.…
