Bullying of the Young
BULLYING “Young people seek help from only adults that they see as caring and nurturing” (Brendtro 29). Not many people understand what bullying is. Some cannot even see when someone is being bullied. People may ask what is bullying. What types of bulling are there? Bullying can also include injuries and even deaths. There are many ways to prevent bullying. There are even some laws on bullying. The state or federal government should put laws into place to prevent bullying. As young children start to go to school at a young age they are all taught that they should be nice and get along with each other. As children get older they can sometimes be mean to each other, this is known as bullying. Many people know what bullying is but some may ask “what is bullying?” “Bullying is basically a form of intimidation or domination toward someone who is perceived as being weaker. It is a way of getting what one wants through some sort of coercion or force. It is also a way for someone to establish some sort of perceived superiority over another person” (“Child Bullying” 1). “Many parents are concerned that their child might be a victim of a child bullying. Some of the signs that a child is being bullied include: becoming withdrawn, showing fear when it is time to go to school, increasing signs of depression, decline in school performance, speaking of another child with fear, noticeable decline in how the child sees him or herself, signs of physical altercations, such as bruises, scrapes and other marks.” (“Child Bullying” 1) “It may be more difficult to spot signs of verbal or emotional bullying, but you should be on the lookout for indications that your child's self esteem and self image are faltering, as well as a reluctance to go to school” (“Child Bullying” 1). It is hard to believe but bullying can start anywhere. Bullying could start at school, work, home, the park down the road, the next door neighbor, even the internet, anywhere.
