Bullying
Bullying has been one of the rising issues in present world. There are many children getting bullied every day. This resulted in many children ending up to suicide. Bullying is major in places where there is no supervision of adults and especially in schools. Cyber-bullying has also become a new way of bullying children through social network and websites like face book, twitter, and etc. Cyber bullying has been also many left many negative effects. Bullies don’t understand of how it feels someone’s feelings. As bullying is growing parents and teachers should be extra careful whenever they witness a child getting bullied.
Bullying in schools has increased in recent years. “International research suggests that bullying is common at schools and occurs beyond elementary school; bullying occurs at all grade levels, although most frequently during elementary school” (Sampson). Most students do not tell their parents/guardians when they are being bullied. Some studies show that boys are more aggressive in bullying than girls. Studies also show that bullies are usually dominant, aggressive, and slightly below average in intelligence and reading ability. Bullying most often occurs where adult supervision is low or absent. That is what makes the internet a “hot spot” for bullying.
Cyber bullying is wide spread internet bullying that takes place especially on social networks like facebook, twitter, and etc. “Recently, criminal charges were filed against nine high-school students in Massachusetts after a 15-year-old girl they had harassed hung herself” (Kresten). Although over 40 states have anti-bullying laws that require schools to set policies to prevent bullying, many people believe that more needs to be done. Many schools are increasing CCTV cameras to monitor students and help dissuade bullies.
