Broken Homes and Juvenile Delinquency
Introduction:

Juvenile Delinquency has been an important area of study since the turn of the twentieth century. And has reached to a point where it is now considered a social phenomenon. When we look into the word social, it could be viewed as an issue that has to do with the way we are socialized into society. However, for this purpose we would have to look at some very important questions like: How is the concept of juvenile delinquency defined? Who commits delinquent acts? How much delinquency occurs each year? Is the rate of delinquent activity increasing or decreasing? What can we do to prevent delinquency?

A juvenile delinquent can be defined as participation in illegal behavior by a minor who falls under a statutory age limit. In order to have a thorough analysis of this phenomenon there are other bodies that must be included, such as, law enforcement, court, and correctional agencies that would help to treat with these offenders. This is called the juvenile justice system. One must bear in mind that this type of behavior deviates from societal norms and violates established criminal codes and laws. This incorporates not only general criminal activity but conduct that is only unlawful for youths such as running away from home and skipping school.

There are a number of factors which can be linked to this social issue. This phenomenon has crossed all barriers within society, and can be linked to almost every state/country. However, it can be found aligned to one particular class/race more than the other. At this point having looked at some of the studies that were done before, I can now attempt to do research into this are called Juvenile Delinquency. To start I must first develop a problem statement, hypothesis, and research question.
