Broca Brain Function Essay
Broca’s area: This area allows signals to be sent in order to allow there to be production of speech and language. The signals allow for the brain to form parts of speech into sentences. This involves the talking at the party which uses speech and language as eg. English. It also allows me to talk to my friends the whole evening. Another function of the broca’s area is the control of facial neurons. This means that when I greet my friends at the party the Broca’s area was involved in my facial expression towards my friends as well as my facial expressions though out the whole evening. The speech and facial expressions are managed in this region of the brain.
Hippocampus: This area of the brain is located within the limbic system. It’s appearance is shaped like a seahorse. It’s main purpose is forming long term declarative memories that are stored elsewhere in the brain. This part of the brain is also responsible for managing spatial relationships. It regulates body temperature, thirst, hunger, sleeping and waking up, sexual activity as well as emotions such as moods experienced. The ultimate regulation of hormones lies within the Hypothalamus. This part of the brain is involved through the whole evening during various activities. It first involved the feeling of hunger. Eating the pizza was partly caused by the feeling of hunger and we fixed this by eating pizza. It then signalled me to have another piece. It also signalled me to have another drink, it let me know when I was getting tired and go home and whether I was too hot or cold to put on or take off a jersey.
