Britain Should Have No Power Over Us
It is time we fight back. Britain should have no power over us, and if we do not do something about it, then they will have just that. What do you suppose we would do if that were to happen? What would we be? That is right, we would be a colony, and only a colony. The British Parliament cannot rightfully tax us. But if we do not stand up for our rights and independence, we may as well consider ourselves screwed.

Although we have excellent leaders, support from France and other nations, Britain has much more advantages. They have a superior army with well-trained soldiers as well as a Navy to act as a threat to us. Our army men have not trained well enough to step onto the battlefield. In fact, we do not even have enough money for supplies.

Soame Jenyns felt the same way about England’s right to tax. Jenyns was a member of British Parliament and in his work “The Objections to the Taxation Considered” he states that the British have the authority to tax the colonists and he talks about virtual representation. This is the belief that a member of Parliament virtually represents every person in that empire and there is no need for specific representatives in the colonies. His main argument against the colonists is that no Englishman is taxed by his own consent. Every single Englishman is taxed in Britain and the majority are not represented so the colonists are not alone. On page three of his work, he asks them why they didn’t object to the protection England provided to them but…

The British have murdered us, burned us, and stolen from us. They have imposed unjust laws on us, closed our harbor, and banned our assemblies. All of these laws put us at a disadvantage and benefit Great Britain. Why should we remain loyal to someone who treats us like this? We should not be governed by the British. The colonies are more than capable of protecting and governing themselves. We must fight for our independence, so we can elect our own leaders and write our own…

We tried fighting back but the plan didn't work out to well soil decided to get some help. The taxes were getting more pricey due to the amount of people forced to buy items, paper to “help” the British empire king James the third. This was also helping my family because then as it got worse then the more people wanted to help me to set what is right in our colony. A few days later the taxing got worse because we were getting taxed for everything, including if we just wanted to sit down and play a quick game of cards to pass the few minutes of…

Many say that Britain is the parent country to the colonies. This was true at one point. She took us under her wing and got us started. But "even brutes do not devour their young, nor savages make war upon their families." She has turned on us. The king "has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people." He over-taxes us. Why should we put up with this? Why should a miniscule island have complete rule over and entire continent with such great potential? In Britain, the king is law. In America, "THE LAW IS KING!" Let's fight for our rightful independence and freedom!…

As woman who has lived in the Colony of Georgia all of my 17 years, I strongly believe we should declare independence from Great Britain. Great Britain has placed unconstitutional taxes on us, both internal and external. The intolerable acts were used to try to control everything we do, and allow that royal officials are exempt from their own trials by moving the trials elsewhere, so witnesses could not testify. If we secede from Great Britain we can have our own laws and our government. My entire life I have worked hard to help my family earn money, and I have made handmade clothes, cloth, shoes and more when we boycotted British goods. The Stamp Act and Townshend Act have taken most of the little money we have, and Soldiers have overrun our home and eaten the some of the already meager food supply we have. My little brothers and sisters are starving; they cry all night and you can count every one of their ribs. I strongly believe we should secede from the British Empire.…

With Britain’s growing debt from the war that was accumulated from protecting and fighting for the American colonies, Parliament was put in a difficult place. If the Parliament had tried to gain this taxing consent, I feel that the colonists would have been less resistant with Parliament. During this time many American colonist like Patrick Henry, who was part of the House of Burgress did try to find a resolution, which ending up only upsetting the British government. The First Continental Congress only really wanted to limit the power of Parliament, determine their rights as American colonials and ways to resist the Coercive Act. The Coercive Act, basically gave the British the authority over the colonies causing even more issues and resistances against the British government. In 1774 the American colonies where not ready for independence, they truly just wanted a say for themselves.…

Still it would be difficult for Britain to take the fight to Germany and actually win the war. The British Army may have survived by escaping at Dunkirk when it tried to help the French, but they had lost most of their heavy equipment, tanks, and artillery. Just 25 divisions in Britain, mostly armed with rifles, stood against the German war machine. The British Army…

We the patriots of america believe that we should be separate from Great Britain for many reasons. We feel that we are being over taxed. King George had us pay for his French and Indian War. We did not want to go into this war but he made us. To get back his money he came up with several laws and new taxes, such as the Stamp act, the Sugar act, and the quartering act. We were treated very unfairly by Great Britain. They made us house and completely take care of their soldiers all at our expense. We have no voice or say in how much we are taxed, when we are taxed, or even why we are taxed.…

There have been long talks and debates on whether or not the monarchy should be abolished, many people have strong contrasting views about this topic and I myself have a strong opinion about this as well. I strongly agree with abolishing the UK monarchy and throughout this essay I will be discussing reason for and against. As we all know the monarchy has been part of the British constitution for centuries and has played a big part in the past British culture but do we really need a monarchy in the 21st century and if we do what way do we benefit from this.…
