Throwing a wedding can be hard and overwhelming. Some brides have no idea where to start, while many others know exactly what they want for their celebration. Unfortunately for most brides, the wedding of their dreams doesn’t quite match up with the reality of their checkbook. But do not fear! With a heap of planning, a dash of creativity, and a pinch of determination, any bride on a tight budget can have the wedding of her dreams.
The key to the perfect wedding is planning. Brides should sit down with their future spouse and decide on a budget. Putting this singular detail into place will save the happy couple many headaches and arguments down the road. Start a bridal binder to keep details, ideas, and other important information in one place. Search the internet to download and print appropriate charts, checklists, and worksheets that are helpful in staying organized. Keep records of any vendors employed or that may be employed in the future. A ceremony and reception location must be chosen as soon as possible, especially if the venue is popular. Consider the guests comfort as well as the weather when deciding what time of the year to get married. Last but not least, settle on a general theme or color scheme wanted in the wedding.
All little creativity will go a long way. Start a Pinterest account. This social networking site is filled with great ideas from DIY favors to photo backdrops that will fit any budget. Think out of the box when crafting handmade favors and décor and only use things that inspire happiness. Handmade is longer a novelty but a rare treat. Most people don’t have the time to ply their crafting skills, so a handmade favor can be a big hit with a bride’s guests and pocketbook. In addition, handmade gifts tend to express extra thoughtfulness from the newlyweds. Don’t feel pressured to do things exactly like the magazines. The more personalized a wedding is to the couple, the more the guests, friends and

For example, during the recession in 2011 the average cost of a wedding was about $26,501 (Townley). However, they were not always so lavish. Before the twentieth century, couples were discouraged from having “elaborate weddings because they detracted from the occasion's real purpose: the joining of compatible partners in holy matrimony” (Jellison). Conversely, the rise of consumerism combined with the urban middle class in the 1920’s caused a shift towards luxury (Jellison). In addition, the wedding industry jumped at their chance to make money and began marketing more towards women due to marriage being considered “a woman’s most important accomplishment” through the 20’s and 60’s (Jellison). While that old adage is thought to have died in the twenty first century, Bridezillas seems to say otherwise. Often during the episodes the weddings are centered on what the bride wants, and the grooms appear to have little to no say on the matter. In one of the more extreme cases, bride-to-be Dezjuan would not listen to her fiancé Tyler at all, and according to Tyler, they were going to have the wedding “of her dreams” not his. For example, when the couple was sampling cakes for their wedding, she says “This is buttercream. This is what we are having. This right here.” Tyler then retorts “I don’t like it”. She replies “No, you do like it. Eat it. It is…
