Brain Dominance Experiment

For my psychology fair project I was attempting to test brain dominance in gender. I had people take the same brain dominance test to see if the individual thought with more with the left side of the brain or the right. In my experiment I had 59 people take the same questionnaire to see which hemisphere of the brain was more dominant as a whole. I became intrigue on the topic of brain dominance after doing some research on the brain. The brain is a very complex organ one hemisphere of the brain corresponds with the opposite side of the body. Each hemisphere of the brain is identical in appearance however each hemisphere has the ability to perform different multitudes of tasks. This is where the theory of brain dominance originated.

Since as I said before, the right side of the brain corresponds to the left side of the body, right handed people would most likely think with the left side of the brain and vice versa. Some other factors that may have had an effect on our brain dominance would be genetics, childhood experiences, and family environment. Our brain dominance has a tremendously large impact on our personality. In my experiment there were people I was able to pre-determine their brain dominance. I thought boys would most likely be left side dominant. I also expected there to be a large amount of split brained (non-dominant) results. However, my results ended up being wrong in all cases. After I let each individual finish their questionnaire I calculated the results. To my surprise 13 females and 11 males were left side dominant, 11 Females and 14 males were right side dominant, and 6 females and 4 males were split brained. Out of the entire pool of people that took the quiz 41% were left side dominant, 42% were right side brain dominant, and 17% were split brained. There were several cases where people that were left handed were right side dominant and vice versa, but I do not think it was the key to determining brain dominance. I believe the factors that effected brain dominance the most in individuals is genetics and family background. I think that humans are too complex to be labeled as a whole. I am extremely happy with the way my psychology fair project turned out. I think there were a couple things I could have done better. I think I should have made more questionnaires in the beginning. I did not expect so many people to want to take the quiz and figure out their brain dominance. In my opinion I think that my project was a hit at the
