Border Control
Border Control I feel that border security should be a priority and it is important to me because of the consequences we are currently suffering from and will continue to suffer from. We have decades of children that will depend on us to resolve these issues now rather than lay the burden on them. Even if Border Security is dealt with successfully, the radical terrorist threat will continue and will be able to be dealt with more easily because of the progress we will be able to make at home domestically as well. Securing our nearly 6000 miles of border between just the Canadian and Mexican borders not including our coastal shores and ports will be vital in many ways, such as national security and for a prosperous America. The lack of security or of the enforcement of immigration laws is causing many problems from within the country. Just the everyday life of a person using things like roads, bridges, and highways cost money daily from wear and tear. This is supplied by the everyday American worker and other tax paying citizens of the country. When illegal immigrants are able to use our resources they take away from the opportunities of our children and even adults who are currently affected by job loss. People who may need help from social programs may be denied because resources aren't left. It is estimated that there are approximately 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants in the United States today. Allowing this to increase or maintain its level of growth will have a negative impact in many areas of the country. Also, this undermines the efforts and sincerity of those people of all other nationalities and religions who came to this country in a legal manner, following all of the rules set forth to become a citizen here. People of all walks of life are welcome to this country, but should respect our laws just as we are expected elsewhere. Our different peoples make up our great country! Other areas of the country strained by a lack of border

According to “Immigrants Have Enriched American Culture and Enhanced Our Influence in the World” by Daniel Griswold, immigrants aren’t weakening America, they are a fundamental factor that hold this nation together. Without them the nation would be negatively impacted as it would lose businesses, which would cause millions of people to go on unemployment; money, from taxes that are no longer being paid; labor force, since immigrants were helping to revitalize the average population; tourists, as they mostly came from foreign countries. Griswold also states that instead of worrying about immigration the focus should be on border security. Rather than restricting peaceful people, who only want to better their lives, the nation should restrict…

A major problem the United States faces today is illegal immigration. The United States is a country founded upon immigrants who have come here legally and made productive lives. Illegal immigration is a drain on the economy and poses an excessive risk to the citizens of this country. In a post 9/11 world the U.S. faces many challenges and foreign enemies like never seen before in the past. Border security is an issue that has not been taken seriously, yet is the one critical issue that is vital to our nation’s national security and preservation. It is estimated that eleven to twelve million undocumented immigrants live and work in the United States, roughly one in every twenty workers, according to a study by the Pew Hispanic Center (Pew Hispanic Website). Most illegal immigrants that enter the country do so from the U.S.-Mexico border. In 2007, some 880,000 people were arrested illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico broder. According to the American Federation for Immigration Reform (FAIR), eighteen percent of illegal immigrants fall below the poverty line (Fairius.org). This is compared to eleven percent of the poverty stricken individuals who are native born. The implications from this is simple for the United States: illegals are twice as likely than native born citizens to apply and receive some sort of federal assistance that is taxpayer funded. Annualy state governments are spending anywhere between eleven billion to twenty two billion dollars to provide aid to illegal immigrants. Another major problem faced by our current policy of allowing illegal immigrants into our country is approximately two billion a year of tax payer dollars are spent on WIC, food stamps, school lunches, etc. Our country spends two and a half billion dollars a year on Medicaid for illegal immigrants and roughly seventeen billion a year is spent…

    Border Fence

Before the Border Fence was built on August 29, 2008, America was facing and still is facing one of the gravest threats ever. The lack of security and law enforcement agents, has caused so much havac and danger to the citizens of America and Mexican residents. We the citizens of the United States of America are in extreme danger with all the activity going on in Mexico, that is vastly spreading into the U.S. The drug cartel, human trafficking and terrorists are on the rise; we are forced to put up a permanent barrier to prevent and protect our country from these horrifying acts. The barriers are strategically placed to migrate the flow of illegal border crossings along Mexico and the United States international borders. Construction supporters cite to ongoing escalation of national security risks, relating to cartel border violence and their possible co-operation with overseas terrorists. Opponents claim the barriers are a taxpayer boondoggle and that the barriers are inappropriately jeopardizing the health and safety of those seeking illegal entry into the U.S. They also claim it destroys animal habitat, because it prevents them from reaching food and water. Some argue that the fence and construction of it damages the environment. Federal Agents and Border Patrol Agents agree that the border fence works great and also say it is one of the “best investments our country could have ever made.” Prior to the fence being built thousands of illegal immigrants were crossing over to America, the crime rate and illegal activity was detrimental. Residents couldn’t even go outside…

In the name of national security and immigration regulation, the United States has undertaken a massive project to build physical barriers along portions of the border dividing the United States and Mexico. Yet, there is some disparagement surrounding the concept of outspreading the border fence. However, research has shown that border fencing is not only an achievable option, but is also more successful and safer than other forms of deterrence.…

there are a multitude of issues surrounding unauthorized immigrants who stay in the United States. Often times, the media likes to glorify the negative aspects of an issue to promote their own agenda and mindset. In actuality, these people aren’t hurting our economy in any way. These individuals actually account for a significant boost in the economy across the board in many ways. Unauthorized Immigrants have actually been shown to boost the wages for middle class families, do not benefit from federal welfare programs but still pay taxes, help create diversity and often are the source of the labor workforce. Illegal immigration is only negative because it has the word “illegal” attached to it. If we make it easier for these people to gain…

Bodies lay motionless under a collapsing infrastructure; planes are taken under siege by a villainous force; bullets wound bystanders and officers attempting to ensure safety. The thought that all illegal immigrants enter the country in search of a better life is deceiving. Among the many faultless immigrants hide those who wish only harm due to radical beliefs. Illegal immigration gives people a chance for a new life, it enlarges the population of incarcerated immigrants, and its potential to introduce terrorists signifies that the United States must increase border security. Illegal immigration into the United States has the potential to introduce terrorists to the population and reduces national…
