Sparks met his wife Catherine during the spring of 1988 in California. They married the year after and settled down in New Bern, where he wrote his first published novel The Notebook. The two are still living in New Bern with their three sons Miles, Ryan and Landon, and their twin daughters Lexie and Savannah.
Sparks has spent four of his children’s names as main characters in his books.
In 1985, Sparks wrote his first novel, The Passing. It was never published. Four years later he wrote The Royal Murders, which also was never published. Over a period of six months of 1994, Sparks published The Notebook and in October 1995 he sold the rights to the movie to Time Warner Company for 1 million dollars.
After his first publishing success, Sparks wrote a series of best sellers, which translated into more than 35 languages.
Sparks writes novels about belief, love and tragedy. Up till today, he has published seventeen novels, which most of them have been a huge success. The novels have a tendency to be romantic but the main characters may not experience the typical happy ending.
This is a love story, unlike any other. Everyday, an older man reads to his wife. She is diagnosed with Alzheimer disease, and he reads to her about their youth. He helps her remember, even though it is not possible. But miracles can come true.
The Notebook is the story about Noah Calhoun who falls in love with a city girl named Allie Nelson, in the summer of 1946. They spend a magical and romantic summer together before Allie is forced to go back to the city with her parents. They refuse her to se Noah ever again, and little by little the memory of Noah fades away.
They continue their lives separately; Noah goes to war, and Allie gets engaged to another man. One day she

Over the last decade James Patterson has published an unprecedented number of best-selling books, cemented a powerful brand image amongst a loyal following, and redefined the process by which authors create content to meet reader demand. From November 2000 through June 2003, Patterson had cumulative sales of over six million dollars, trailing only John Grisham during that time frame. He has generated the majority of his sales through a loyal readership that consistently lines up to buy his next installment. Keenly aware of this dedicated following, Patterson successfully sought to augment the proliferation of his titles with co-authors familiar with his brand that could share the workload, creating a virtual assembly-line of best-sellers. Despite this enormous success, the Patterson brand still has a sizeable opportunity for growth. Patterson cites a need to broaden his, relative to other best-selling authors, narrow reader base to capture a greater percentage of the "omnivorous" readers, amongst whom his brand penetration was much lower.…
