MOVIE REVIEW
The Book of Eli is a film directed by Hughes Brothers, Allan and Allen Hughes, the story was written by Gary Whitta. It was released on March 17, 2010 in the Philippines. The main characters were Denzel Washington as Eli, Gary Oldman as Carnegie, Jennifer Beals as Claudia and Mila Kunis as Solara.
Denzel Washingtons acting was good enough, he portrays a man with a real personality of Eli in the story. A man who has strength to fight and survives all by himself on different struggles on a long journey. While Gary Oldman, Jennifer Beals and Mila Kunis’s acting was also good.
The concept and theme of the movie is good. The movie had a moral lesson that was relevant to religious beliefs, the real plot was amazing. It was an apocalyptic-tale in which Eli was a lone man and he has a task of protecting a hidden sacred book, because that book is their only hope to bring back peace of the world for its future.
But in the beginning I almost predicted that the book is the Holy Bible. Some will kill to have it while Eli will kill to protect it. The part of the movie I liked the most was when Carnegie seen the book in Braille, then Claudia didn’t help him to read it. I really didn’t even notice or realize that Eli is blind.
I also like the location or setting of the movie. It was set to be ancient but as a matter of fact it was the new generation but the people were ignorant, and it was after a cataclysmic war and almost like the world was a wasteland and it was very dangerous. The people were like war freaks because they are fighting for resources.
But what I didn’t like is the concept that the people were so ignorant, I’m just wondering why the people were so ignorant it was unbelievable that they don’t have any idea about God, even a little or a bit. After the war maybe few people survive in it, it is not possible that maybe even one of those who survive didn’t recognize or tell something about
