Daniel was a spiritual leader that opened the eyes of many people to God and the many wonders of God. Daniel’s name can be interpreted as “God is my judge.” Daniel had a very eventful life from interpreting dreams to getting thrown into the lions’ den. Daniel was known for his God-given ability to interpret dreams. This God-given ability got him out of trouble but also put him into some trouble as well. Even through all the hardships that Daniel had to endure he never lost his faith in God. Daniel wrote the book of Daniel in the Bible. The time the book was written is not known for sure but there are theories stating that the book was written around 535 B.C. or around 167 B.C. In the book of Daniel, Daniel addresses two different audiences. In the Hebrew sections of the book of Daniel, Daniel addresses the Jewish captives to help them during the “times of the Gentiles.” Daniel reminds them of God’s supreme power and authority. In the Aramaic section of the book of Daniel, Daniel addresses the two Gentile empires during Daniel’s time, which were the Babylonians and the Medo-Persians. Daniel reminds them that even though they had Israel under temporary control, God had supreme power and authority over them. The book of Daniel is split into two sections.
