Blizzard in the District of Columbia area last January cause many problems such as no transportation, school closed, and people stacked. First, there was no transportation at all almost for three days because the road was very slippery and it was difficult to drive at that time. In the presentation given by Megan Vandekerkhove she spoke about what happens when there is a natural disaster and what private sectors and the government do for these. She had an internship at the Lenawee County Health Department Emergency Preparedness, where she learned about who, what, and when things are deployed when a natural disaster or catastrophe happens. In her presentation she pointed out that since the economy has dropped there has been lots of funding that has been count down which concerns her because if something like hurricane Katrina happens again we will not have the resources to help people in need or maybe even ourselves. Her presentation was also about how you can help yourself out even without anybody help and she gave some suggested websites to visit to help people learn what the best things are to have in stock and what to do in case of a catastrophe. Also on Megan’s presentation she talked about when cuts are being made to help all of these potential disasters there are many things that it can hurt such as; increase in outbreaks of diseases and not having the best resources to help us thrive in a poor environment.…

The number one reason people are fired from their jobs is due to being absent or tardy repeatedly. In my experience as a store manager of a retail business, being absent or tardy not only shows lack of effort it shows lack of dedication to the job. The saying time is money is not far off from the truth. When someone calls in sick or is late to their shift, customers, deadlines, and other employees affected by not having enough employees to get the job done in a timely fashion. These effects can also cost the company revenue that could have otherwise been generated by sales in retail businesses.…

I’ve been a resident of the Northeastern United Stated for most of my 45 years. I remember the significant snows of the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was 1978, in fact, when New England experienced one of her most severe winter storms. This “storm of the century” brought continuous snow for 33 hours, three times the duration of your typical Northeaster. Over 3,500 cars had to be abandoned on highways and interstates, in and around Boston. Numerous coastal homes along the New England shoreline, and as far south as Long Island, washed into the sea.…

Slide three discusses the different types of absenteeism: scheduled, unscheduled, no-fault, compensated, and uncompensated. Examples of each are also given. Peer’s are the ones that have to carry the brunt of the workload if another peer is absent. Increased workload and stress can lead to staff dissatisfaction. Staff become stressed and over worked which leads to a decrease in staff morale. Organizations see a financial impact of absenteeism. The financial impact relates to meeting staffing needs.…

People nowadays are not prepared for the calamity disasters especially for those who are in a rural place .Our government should make a way on how they will reached out for the people who are in need of information of the incoming disaster,so that they will be awared on their community .Our government must have an activites like having earthquake drills that would inform the people on how to be prepared during a calamitiy disaster.People should what to do. Another thing is people must have a discipline and coordination so that they will not be affected on the calamity disaster. If all the people are well discipline that’s apply it on what they had learned in that activity,so that in case of emergency they know the time that they are be able to be prepared and be ready for the natural disasters. Many people died in typhoon because the place that they used to stay is not safe.Even though there is already a typhoon many people would’nt want to leave their homes because they are afraid that someone might stole their stuffs that are valuable to them and that show’s how stubborn they are .One of the best way on how there are going to be prepared in the disaster is to watch the news or read newspaper or listened to the radio so that they are updated on what’s happening in their place. If only people would follow these advice there is a higher risk that people are not going to die and people would’nt be injured. But unfortunately their homes will be the one that are going to be affected.I noticed that most of the people home’s here in our country are not that strong to support them and that’s also one of the reason why many of the filipino’s during calamity is in dangered, they must evacuate as early as possible before…
