I enjoy listening to this song anyways as it is in my native language and one of my top childhood songs. The song is about a couple who is in love with each other but when the guy has to leave for the US, they broke up. He later returns and the love is still there. This is a very cute story and I love singing the lyrics that describes his feelings for her as he was away. If I broke up and get back together with my boyfriend, I would want this to be our scenario, that we broke up and got back together because of distance or circumstances, not because we wanted this. I also love how there are english lyrics sung with deep emotion in the song: “I will be back for you.” The music video for the song is also very heartwarming and brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it. If I got back together with my ex, I could listen to this song to remind me of my feelings for him. This song is a great song that evokes strong emotions from me and makes me think about love and how strong it is to overcome lots.…

At first I thought that the music was not in tandem with these lyrics at all. The lyrics have such depression in them at first while the music itself is so peppy and upbeat. I could not understand how they worked together. That for me was the site of struggle. Hegemonic norms tell us that songs about death and sadness should be slow and heavy. This song has such energy to it and resists hegemonic norms so that it couldn’t possibly fall into the category of death. I listened to the song a few more times and I realized that the song was not just a sad retelling of a story, but it is a memorial of…

Imagine a song that reminds you of the early Saturday mornings where you sat staring at the television screen watching one your favorite cartoons as everyone in your house is fast asleep. Now imagine that you're an adult, you're stressed out, attempting to balance your responsibilities and trying to figure out what the heck to do with your life. You sit at your work desk staring at the computer, you're longing to be a kid again, young, free-spirited, free of worries and ready to take on the world and make it a better place. Now imagine a song that brings both your childhood and present worlds together and allows you to be your inner-superhero and conquer the world-that song for me is “Wonderful Everyday: Arthur” by Chance the Rapper and The Social Experiment.…

There is a certain pain that is felt whenever a loved one passes. Beyond sadness, it is hurt, it is anger, it is confusion, and an almost unidentifiable emptiness where the lungs should be. People who have not experienced such loss have a happy, if hazy, view of the world. Then, there are those who lose someone… a major someone... so very special. They do eventually move on, but the pain alters them forever. Ed Sheeran, in the song “Afire Love,” illustrates how the loss of an individual can impact everyone around them, young and old.…

    Johnny Cash Analysis

I chose Hurt (Johnny Cash), this song is my go to song when everything seem to be going wrong. It always brightens my mood, it shows without darkness we would not have light. My darkness is depression, I have suffered depression for four years now. I believe Johnny Cash suffered with depression while he suffered an addiction to amphetamines. “Cash suffered agonizing guilt and depression” (Coleman). The world witnessed when Johnny Cash hit rock bottom, they were also able to see him pick himself back up. He inspires me to pick my own self back up when I get to my rock bottom.…

As I listened more and more to this song the melody moves me. It brings such a positive tone to whatever I may be doing. Me and my friend always refer back to this song when one of us are feeling down. To remind the other that we are not alone and that we will have the others back no matter the condition. Everyone has times when they are upset and feel alone. They have “seen monsters chasing dreams”. That is why this song is so great. Because everyone can relate to it in one way or another. Remember that you are not alone, but that you are…

    I Hope You Dance

I have a very deep understanding of this song because “I hope you dance” has helped me through some extremely difficult times. I was homeless at the age of sixteen and ready to give up on the world when I first heard this song playing over the radio. With the help of Sillers words I was able to find the inspiration inside myself and keep going to school even if it meant sacrificing a day of pay from missing work. I knew that although things would be extremely difficult to attempt to be able to work enough hours to get my own place and attend high school on a regular basis, but with the help of her words I found the motivation within myself to give it my all. After three months I had saved enough money for the deposit and first month’s rent and my grades we’re decent enough for me to graduate on time with the rest of my peer’s. Now that I am more stable things have become less difficult, but whenever I am having a hard…

    My Favourite Poem

    • 445 Words

This is my favourite poem as it describes hope by using a powerful array of metaphors to enhance its effect. While it is true that many people all over the world live in extremely challenging and life threatening situations, leading hard lives in appalling conditions. What keeps people going in such circumstances is the glimmer of hope that things can change. This is one thought that came to mind when first reading the poem and this is what attracted me to it and as it relates to any hopeless situations it really does apply to all aspects of life.…
