Blame For Romeo And Juliet's Death
The blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet could be placed on many different people for many different reasons. Despite all of the characters actions from the play that lead to the young couple's dreadful demise, the real blame should be placed on their society as a whole. The societal expectation of parents picking their child's spouse at the time was the norm, but it wasn't well thought out. If society at the time wasn't so focused on the name attached to the person, their deaths would've been preventable. Finally, if society would take into account the feelings of the people being married and actually pay attention to what both parties want, the deaths of Romeo and Juliet could've been dodged.

During the play, Juliet's feelings about being married off to Paris were completely disregarded. If society would've been evolved enough at that time to realize that feelings matter, Juliet wouldn't have died. Juliet and Romeo would not have had to arrange to be married in secret, they would've been able to be open about the fact that they are in love, Juliet wouldn't have to take the sedative, and ultimately they wouldn't have to both die.
On the other hand, many would argue that the deaths of Romeo and Juliet were the responsibility of an individual character. This is not probable because the actions of every single character was what ultimately led to their deaths. There is no way to accurately pin the blame on one character by themselves. Because of the actions of all of the characters, Romeo and Juliet died.
