Blackmore's Sydney Running Festival: Case Study
An event planning process identifies the challenges that come with planning and delivering a successful event, and provides organisations with a methodical approach to overcome these (Allen, Harris, McDonnell, & O'Toole, 2010). In particular, how an event is conceived, planned and delivered, is strongly based on how an organisation is able to identify and address the contextual factors that could impact its success (CITE). This Learning journal will explore the “2015 Blackmore’s Sydney Running Festival” and discuss how the following contextual factors: Legal Regulation, Technological and Social factors may impact the overall running of this event.

The ‘Blackmore’s Sydney Running Festival, being such a large and complex event, it is essential that throughout the conceiving and planning process the event company must take into consideration and allow for time when waiting on a response to their requests from government agencies and public (Allen et al. 2010). Furthermore Allen et al. (2010) suggest that it is necessary to seek permits and licenses early on to factor in unexpected delays and problems that may arise when obtaining them. Blackmores Sydney running festivals websites shows they have partnerships with NSW NOW, Destination NSW, planning and infrastructure NSW, City of Sydney council and Centennial Parklands.
