Learning Team - Wireless Technologies Proposal
Party Plate’s for many years now has supplied all of our customers’ needs when it comes to part supplies and themes for almost any occasion. However, technology in the 20th century has taken off with even more technological advancements on the horizon. The technology presently used in Party Plates is obsolete; and implementations of wireless technology to Party Plates infrastructure will not only up-date our current systems, it will also support Party Plates well into the future.
This proposal will cover the recommended wireless technologies, and the pros and cons of implementing such technology; along with providing rational and risk assessment for deciding to use wireless technology in Party Plates infrastructure. In addition to this proposal, a spreadsheet is also included, covering the financial analysis of implementing the recommended wireless technologies to Party Plates.
The wireless technologies proposed by learning team A, deemed suitable in meeting the present and future needs of Party Plates are iPhones, iPads, wireless routers, and wireless surveillance equipment. Our team firmly believes that proper implementation of these wireless technologies will help rectify Party Plates technological issues. However, with these recommendations there are always positives and negatives to implementing new technology to a business. The pros will be covered first then secondly the cons. The pros are: * Accurate, real-time information * Field sales having accurate, latest product availability information * Field sales having the latest pricing information, sales presentations or customer/competitor intelligence * Field service technicians able to access correct or real-time information on a customer’s equipment, problem, or account * Delivery personnel accessing real-time routing and customer information * Warehouse employees accessing information on stock levels, ordering rates and stock locations * Manufacturing workers accessing information showing build schedules, automation performance, and material levels
All of these are the pros of implementing wireless technologies in Party Plates derived from the brilliant minds of HP invent (Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P., 2006). The cons of implementing wireless technologies to Party Plates are as follows: * Security-data and personal information shared over wireless networks is susceptible to attack and theft by hackers * Installation- wireless networks set-up incorrectly result in loss of signal and interference e.g. dead zones * Coverage- inconsistent coverage is one of the drawbacks of wireless technologies because some areas do not receive radio signals * Transmission-wireless networks possess phenomenal speed; however, compared to wired networks they are still with a doubt much slower in their transmission speed
These are the main cons encountered when attempting to implement wireless technologies to any business (Williams, 1999-2013). The benefits of implementing wireless technologies to Party Plates far out way the risks of implementing such technology.
Wireless technology can really help stream line our business as well as customer satisfaction. The use of smartphones on your employees so customers can check out as soon as they are done and they do not have to wait in line at a register. GPS monitoring will help us know where our orders are and we are going to be able to track them, so we will know when our shipments will be delivered. Wi-Fi will save us money with our smartphones, as well as make your customers happy if there device needs Wi-Fi. The problems with some of the wireless technology are going to be the startup costs that are associated with it. We will also have to make sure employees are not walking off with the smartphones.
