Biomedical Science Personal Statement
I have a dream, that one day I will be able to make an impact on the world. This dream began back at a young age once I started watching the Discovery Channel on television. While watching, I was particularly in awe of how boundless the discovery of Science is. At the age of seventeen, I read “Exploring the Biomedical Revolution” by Howard Hughes Medical Institute. For me, the most intriguing part of the book were the stories behind every great biomedical discovery. I felt privileged to have an in-depth knowledge about symptoms of diseases like cystic fibrosis, Lyme disease and Malaria that I never knew existed. All the eye-catching illustrations available in the book opened my eyes to the wonders of the human body and elucidated the uses of the imaging devices and sophisticated computers which assist in the conduct of medical testing and diagnosis. Looking into the unknown in human bodies may be a lifelong process but I am determined to work in the biomedical science field. The need to apply Biology to medical use fired me up. My passion for Biology has developed tremendously as I started exploring the subject beyond the curriculum. Specifically interested in the pharmacology and physiology, I wish to gain an invaluable insight into the world of science, and look forward to utilizing this in a clinical use. …show more content…
My desire of delving to the world of biomedical science has been firmly rooted ever since I started studying A-level. Through my studies of Biology, I gained laboratory skills and attained some broad understandings of the scientific processes comprehensively. My daily routine of discovering the mind-blowing medical breakthroughs has made me feel much rewarded as a Science
