Bill Clinton: A Short Biography
On August 19, 1946 Virginia Cassidy Blythe gave birth to William Jefferson Blythe III in Hope, Arkansas(Beschloss). At the time this was not an important event but this child would later become known as our 42nd president.President Clinton was born to a single mother due to the fact that his biological father was killed in an auto accident several months before his birth. Approximately two years after little Bill was born his mother left him with her parents to seek a nursing degree in Louisiana. Not long after she returned she married a man by the name of Roger Clinton. He would later adopt Bill as his own child, and he took Roger’s surname.
At an early age young Mr. Clinton was inspired by the great leaders of our country such as Martin Luther King and our 35thpresident, John F. Kennedy. While in high school Bill had a chance meeting with Mr. Kennedy, this would be the match to light his fire to begin a career in politics.
Bill Clinton received his first diploma from Georgetown University in 1968. He attended Oxford University in England on a Rhodes scholarship for two years. In 1970, he returned to the United States to later earn his law degree from Yale in 1973. Soon after becoming a law professor at the University of Arkansas, he was elected as the attorney general of Arkansas. In 1978, Bill was voted into the office of governor of Arkansas, where he served one term and was voted out. In 1983, he ran again and wonand held that seat for nine more years(Skarmeas 81).
“In 1992 the Democratic Party nominated him for president. Clinton chose Tennessee senator Al Gore as his running mate.”(Rumsch 17) On January 20, 1993, William Jefferson Clinton was inaugurated into the office of president.
