I believe bikinis can be blamed for sexual crimes on Goa’s beach as it has a very high crime rate including rapes which take place in India every 21 minutes. Furthermore, the number of reported rapes rose by 9% in 2011 to 24,000 Guardian News (2013). Washington post(2013) finds that there is inclination to assume the victims of sexual violence somehow brought it on themselves. In a 1996 survey of judges in India, 68 percent of the respondents said that provocative clothing is an invitation to rape. Although, this survey is 18 years old but the males point of view have not changed towards this topic.
