Big Bang Theory

Informative Speech: The Big Bang Theory
How did the universe begin? How did matter come to exist? We all know that the universe exists, however, this knowledge alone has not satisfied mankind’s quest for further knowledge and understanding. Much time has been spent looking for some clues. Most of what we know is still only a speculation. The three topics I’d like to discuss are what exactly the Big Bang theory is, the first atoms, and the age of the universe. What exactly is the Big Bang theory? “Fifteen billion years ago a tremendous explosion started the expansion of the universe, known as the Big Bang.” (LaRocco and Rothstein, n.d.) The Big Bang theory is an effort to explain what happened at the very beginning of our universe. Discoveries in astronomy and physics have shown beyond reasonable doubt that our universe did in fact have a beginning. Prior to that moment there was nothing; during and after that moment there was something; our universe. After its initial appearance it inflated (the “Big Bang”), expanded and cooled, going from very, very small and very, very hot, to the size and temperature of our current universe. (“Big Bang Theory- An Overview”, n.d.) The Big Bang theory was introduced in 1927, Georges LeMaitre showed that religion and science, or at least physics, did not have to be incompatible. In 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered the galaxies were moving away at high speeds. The Big Bang was not like an explosion of a bomb going off, but an explosion of space within itself. (“A Science Odyssey: People and Discoveries: Big Bang Theory is Introduced”, n.d.). Just as the Big Bang provided for the foundation of the universe, Hubble’s observations provided for the foundation of the Big Bang theory. What happened afterwards? In just fractions of the first second after creation, everything began to evolve into what we know today as the universe. Immediately after the Big Bang, the universe

Big bang cosmology is an explosive topic. Heated reactions nd bitter resistance ave arisen from opposite directions in the last century but, ironically, for the same type of reasons: religious reasons. One group of big bang opponents includes those who understand the theory implications, and the other, those who misunderstand them.…

From a biblical worldview the answers start in the bible. The bible is used as the filter or lens for which the world is view. Where did we come from? The bible tells us in (Genesis 1:1) that God is the beginning of everything; he created the heavens and the earth out of nothing. David describes in Psalms how God created him uniquely and David was marveled by God’s workmanship. (Psalms 139:13)…

The curiosity humans have in our origin and worth has led to a remarkable search for answers to big questions about history starting from the very beginning. Big history cosmology looks to answer some of the biggest questions humans have about the universe. In this paper, big history will be explored through the formation of the current U.S. one cent coin or more commonly referred to as a penny. The big bang theory is a scientific origin story, based on real evidence which explores history in thresholds from the big bang to present. Thresholds are time periods that break up history into sections and each one is marked by significant pivotal events and emerging properties. Each threshold is connected to the last and accumulated ingredients led…

How did the Universe come to be? There are many theories on how the universe began, but the most common and scientific is the Big Bang theory. Georges Lemaitre is said to be the first person to formulate the Big Bang theory in 1927. Lemaitre gathered information and ideas from scientists Albert Einstein, and Alexander Friedman to create…

There is also an alternative scientific theory – The Steady State Theory. This says that the Universe is not changing, and had no beginning which makes the Big Bang nonsense – but few scientists accept this theory, and it doesn’t have any solid evidence.…

There has been a lot of research done on the influence media can have on society, in particular the degrading images of women that are often seen in media. Since the second wave of the women’s rights movements these images were the object of scrutiny and an easy example of how women were viewed. In modern society where women have made many strides towards equality why are there still instances in popular media were women are negatively depicted? Have women come as far as they think? The popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory negatively depicts the female characters by reverting to a binary view of gender, in which the female characters are lacking, they can be beautiful or smart however they cannot be both.…

In the beginning there was nothing-no time to describe ‘when’ or no space to fill matter in. From this void sprung our universe when time and space came into existence as one entity. Despite its name the big bang theory isn’t really a theory about a bang at all. It is really only a theory about the aftermath of a bang (Allen Guth). The Big Bang theory is widely accepted by modern scientists, some however still doubt its validity. The Big bang theory relies mainly upon the explanation and proof of the following four discoveries ( For the purpose of this essay I will only be discussing the first 3 events):…

The scientific belief regarding the creation of the universe is based on a theory known as the Big Bang Theory. According to the Big Bang Theory, the universe was created "sometime between 10 billion and 20 billion years ago from a cosmic explosion that hurled matter and in all directions." (Http://liftoff.msfc.nasa.gov/academy/universe/b_bang.html) Although the Big Bang Theory is widely accepted, it comes into direct conflict…

The Big Bang looks like a very plausible beginning for the universe. Whatever begins to exists has a cause. The universe began to exist therefore the universe had a cause, which would seem to lie outside the physical universe. This coheres well with the Christian claim that God is a non-physical being who created the physical universe. Although Craig’s argument does not specifically determine that the Christian God exists, but rather just a Creator. Scientifically, there is still a lot about the Big Bang that is a mystery. We just don’t understand it. The evidence shows that it happened, but not why it happened. We have very little clue about that scientifically—and there may well be no scientific answer. It may be that God just did it, and did it in a way not susceptible to scientific study. For now, the Big Bang looks like the beginning of the Universe, and it has a legitimate place in discussions of God's…

The multiverse (or meta-universe, metaverse) is the hypothetical set of multiple possible universes (including the historical universe we consistently experience) that together comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, and energy as well as the physical laws and constants that describe them. The term was coined in 1895 by the American philosopher and psychologist William James.[1] The various universes within the multiverse are sometimes called parallel universes.…

For this assignment I watched an old episode of the sitcom Big Bang Theory in syndication on the TBS cable network; however, the show is still being produced and new episodes air weekly on CBS. The show was created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, and the target audience is ages 14-49 (Fandom TV, 2016). The episode I watched originally aired on February 24, 2011 and was from season 4, episode 17, “The Toast Derivation.” The main plot of this episode was that one of the main characters, Sheldon, came to the realization that he was not the center of their friend group dynamic, which consisted of Leonard (Sheldon’s roommate), Howard, and Rajesh (“Raj”). Leonard had recently started a new relationship with Raj’s sister, Priya, and Leonard decided…

The big bang theory is a cosmological theory holding that the universe originated approximately 20 billion years ago from the violent explosion of a very small agglomeration of matter of extremely high density and temperature. This to me suggest that something existed before the universe because you cannot get something from nothing. The authors of the book “A Brief History of Time” Hawkins S.W states that since we only know what happens after the big bang we cannot include prior events in our theory of the earth, so we should accept the big gang theory as the beginning of time. (Hawkins, Mlodinow, Leonard, 2005).…
