Big 5 Inventory Analysis
After completing the Big 5 Inventory, I am shocked by the results. The one that surprised me the most was agreeableness. I scored pretty low on that one which is shocking because it says I find it easy to criticize others, but I don’t find myself to be critical at all. My mom said the same thing, but it does take me a lot to forgive people depending on the situation. I scored pretty high on the extraversion which isn’t a shocker at all. I love to talk, especially to tons of different people. My family easily agreed that this result was very accurate. I scored low for conscientiousness which makes sense at certain times. When it comes to my room, I love it to be cleaned and organized, but I can easily mess it up in seconds. My mom agrees with the fact that I can one of the most organized and messy person at the same time. For open-mindedness I scored a little under 50%, which is and is not surprising. I was always an extremely forgiving person as long as you made an attempt to make things right. This changed because I was disappointed by the fact that some people do wrong multiple times. Negative emotionality has also changed over time because as a child, I had no worries. If my mom wasn’t my mom, she would say I don’t seem like a worried person at all. When I was little, she said I said whatever, whenever, and I didn’t care what anyone thought. Now, I still like to do everything, but between her and I, I do get anxious and worried. “Despite the many theoretical reasons for expecting dramatic changes in personality during late adolescence and the transition to young adulthood, the research literature suggests that radical changes in personality traits do not actually occur during this period” (Robin, Noftle, & Roberts). A lot of people feel in college is where their personality changes, but it isn’t. People say their personality has changed in order to make them feel better because they are a “new

I must say that I do agree with the results of the test, but there are some aspects of it that I feel to be untrue. In general, I have to always stay busy and involved with various activities. I like being around people, leading, teaching and stimulating others into positive performances. I also like to act on things as opposed to just talking about it. Other people view me as having an outgoing personality. I also am able to relate to and have friends from all walks of life. On the other hand, I am one who does have to think things through, plan ahead, and am very structured (with things in order). I think that I am more a Sensing personality than a Intuitive one. I am more practical and a more hands on individual. Meaning, I often use and trust my experience before words and symbols. (Humanetrics.com, 1998-2011)…

In the first assessment tool “What Is My Basic Personality?” the focus was on the five-factor model of personalities which are-extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness to experience. Based off this evaluation, my basic personality indicates that I am moderately extroverted because I scored a ten. My conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness to experience scores were high with a score of fifteen. My personality does indicate that I am someone who is agreeable because I scored thirteen. According to the analysis and interpretation, a high agreeableness and conscientiousness score indicates someone who “is good-natured, cooperative, and trusting” (Robbins, 2007 pg.9). A high conscientiousness score represents “someone who is responsible, dependable, persistent, and achievement oriented” (Robbins, 2007 pg.9). Also, a high emotional stability score indicates “someone who is calm, enthusiastic, and secures (Robbins 2007 pg.9). Finally, a high openness to experience score signifies someone who is “imaginative, artistically sensitive, and intellectual” (Robbins, 2007 pg 9). My score indicates that I have a positive emotional stability level, conscientious and openness to experience. However, extraversion and agreeableness were moderate scores which imply that I can improve in these areas.…

I think of myself as a very easy going person, I’m usually very patient with other people and it takes a lot for me to truly get angry or upset. I’ll go out of my way to avoid confrontation usually and for the most part this makes me an easy person to get along with and fairly likeable. I also enjoy being social and have a large circle of friends. This transfers over in the workplace as I can get along with others and work well in team environments on projects. I also place a high value on relationship in the workplace and feel it’s important to get along with your fellow employees. I am also extremely optimistic and will always look to problem solve a way out of a scenario whether it be at work, school, or with my friends. These strengths also come with some areas that I believe I can improve on. I score in the lower half of openness to experience and this means I could work on thinking outside the box and being more creative. In the workplace I do value conventionality and order, which can be good, however it wouldn’t hurt to expand my thinking by getting more creative. This would be especially important if working on projects that don’t necessarily have set guidelines. One area, under conscientiousness, that I think people tend not to see about me is the fact that I am actually very organized, motivated, and structured. I like to know exactly what I’m doing and how to do something before I begin a project/assignment. I can see how people wouldn’t see this so much in me because when I am in more social situations I tend to appear to be loose and not very organized. Because my evaluator’s scores were so similar to mine, I don’t really know if there are any areas that people tend to see in me that I don’t. One slightly higher score was in emotionality. I don’t think I am emotional at all and for the most part I am worry free. My evaluator scored me slightly…

My big 5 results are pretty accurate to my personality type. Having an INTJ personality type my mind tends revolves around the logical and anaclitic side of things. That causes me to think and make choices with my brain and not my heart like most people. So these results reflect that especially in my ability to criticize others. I don’t want to change anything about my personality but I have been told many times I need to work on my people skills. I just don’t understand how people are so comfortable telling…

I scored on the high range. And according to the results I tend to have a great deal of confidence in myself and in my ability to make things better. My healthy outlook can positively influence my personal development, relationships, and effectivness at work. I am able to determine what situation requires and act to improve it. Because I tend to be a person of principle, in my ability to make things better. While I may feel temporarily guilty over things I could have prevented, negative situations don 't tend to worry me to a great extent. I use my available resources well, and make the most of any situation. While I can become fully involved in projects that interest me, I tend to leave situations I don 't find as satisfying: my motivation to do something comes completely from within. I have many interests, and are open to new people and experiences. Others typically admire my confidence, spontaneity, and the joy I experience in simply living.…

Based on the number of points totaled at the end of the test I scored a 42. I agree with this analysis because I posses all of these qualities. I find myself to be popular and unintentionally the center of attention but at the same time I am very easy going and not stuck up. Most of the time when someone close to me needs advice or help they usually come to me first. Also whether right or wrong I try to look at situations from both perspectives and not just my own. I’m also usually calm and understanding in stressful situations because complaining or arguing will only make the situation worst. Usually when someone in my family wants to borrow money they come to me first because I almost never say no even if it’s my last. I strongly have a problem with saying no I feel like I am suppose to be there when someone I care about is in need. I never do things for people looking for them to return the favor. Most of the time people don’t treat you like you treat them and act like they forgot about what you did for them. I don’t let situations like that bother me or change who I am as a person. A lot of people might judge me from my hard exterior or the fact that I am quiet at times. But after they get know me most people always want to be around me. I also presented my girlfriend with this analysis and let her test me, she gave me a score of 41 so it has to be somewhat…

    Is Personality Science?

    • 746 Words
    • 3 Pages

Personality tests produce a wide range of self-descriptions. The responses are fairly repeatable over intervals of many years. They also correlate quite well with ratings of the person given by their spouse, friends or colleagues. Over the last 20 years, many studies in several different cultures have shown that much of the systematic variation in personality can be reduced to scores along five dimensions (the “Big Five”): Extraversion, Neurotism, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, and Openness. These are all continuous dimensions (alternet.org).…

In the beginning of the report it described how either low, average or high is neither good or bad but reading this does bring concern. A personality report with the credibility of being accurate for the most part has brought to me results I had opposite intellect about. What concerned me further were not the five domain models but the subdomain scores that paid more attention to specific detail. I scored low on what I believed to be an eminent reaction. For example, the low score subdomains whom I presumed to be positive were depression, vulnerability, and imagination to name a few. Though I should not rely on what a personality report states about me to be accurate I had a moment of reflection based on the questions I answered to the best of my acknowledgment. I also asked a couple of classmates that knew me for some time if they concurred with the results. Though their responses were considered, I wondered whether there was a part of me that probably did acquire these traits and I was being in denial. Therefore, I took the short version of the report since I had already taken the long version and I obtained the same…
