Biblical Crisis Counseling The world is becoming increasingly violent. It seems that no one is safe and no place is beyond the reach of the violence that permeates society. Because crises bring about the need to make many decisions, Christians are afforded opportunities to glorify God by making choices and acting in ways that honor Him. Crisis ministry requires an investment into the lives of others. We must be willing to sacrifice time, money, energy, comfort and belongings. When people around us panic, we must remain calm and trust the sovereignty of God. We must gently lead those in crisis toward Christ and help them to see God’s hand at work in their circumstances. There is never a time when we can simply ignore the situation,look the other way, and “pass by on the other side
In the midst of crisis, God’s voice must be heard over our own. We cannot answer every question and we need not pretend we can. God uses crisis to reveal the hearts of men. One man may repent, one consistently may obey, and one though used by God, may show no evidence of repentance despite outward compliance. While the outward circumstances will differ, the human heart is unchanging. We as biblical counselors are compelled to speak God’s Word and call upon Him to use His truth …show more content…
As an umbrella protects for the rainstorms of life, the BCI model is used to protect people in the storms of crisis. There are four foundations to the model. These include (1)biblical,(2)relational,(3) wholistic, and(4) practical. These make up the handle of the umbrella. Based on the four foundations the counselor is able to minister using the four aspects of the canopy. These include (1) compassion,(2)listening,(3)serving and(4) ministering Scripture Finally, PRAYER holds the whole model
