Best Mission Statement
Module 2 Exercise #1

After reviewing all the best mission statements from exhibit 2.2, most of the organizations do not follow the guidelines discussed in this chapter mainly because they do not answer all the five basic questions. A mission statement is a clear and concise statement that explains the organization’s reason for existence (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014, p. 30). In addition, a well-devised mission statement should answer the same five following questions:
• Who are we?
• Who are our customers?
• What is our operating philosophy (basic beliefs, values, ethics, etc.)?
• What are our core competencies or competitive advantages?
• What are our responsibilities with respect to being a goose steward of our human, financial, and environmental resources?

The statement does not answer who their customers are and what operating philosophies they offer. Although, as the years go by Boeing manages to form a mission statement by identifying its customers. Same goes for Intel Corporation, they do not incorporate their operating philosophies, nor their competitive advantages. Personally, I believe Leo Burnett and Celestial Seasonings mission statements provide the most clarity and consistency only failing to identify one out of the five questions. It is important that a company’s mission statement delivers a clear answer to each one of these questions installing a foundation for the development of the marketing

My purpose in life is to serve God with honor, humility, and obedience. “ But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (JOSHUA 24:15) I will honor God by helping other in my field of Psychology with hard work and dedication to all my patients. I will serve God by making sure I put other people’s needs before mine and making sure to remain humble, as He has taught us. Serving God will be the ultimate highlight of my life. No duty of serving God is too small, as long as your serving God. I will share the gospel of Jesus with whom I come across with because the gospel is the power of God. (ROMANS 1:16) I will be ready to pick up my bags and go wherever God tells me because to serve God is what I want to do. I will serve Him on the way to work and after work. I will serve Him as I teach my children about the Almighty. “You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (DEUTERONOMY 6:7) I will serve God making sure my will is not my own but His as Jesus also did. “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.” (JOHN 5:19) I will serve by comforting the poor in spirit, hungry, weeping, and the widows. “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him…

Be the teacher I would want my own child to have. This was my motivation and driving force throughout my entire studies at Walden University. I can stand before you today and say with one hundred percent certainty that I am now the teacher that I would want my own child to have. As I began my journey with the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership, one of our first assignments was to read the college’s mission. As I read the mission, I remember wondering how an online program was going to prepare me to become a teacher who inspires and influences my students. I now understand that Walden University gave me the tools and knowledge to look deep within myself and my own teaching. Those tools have helped me become that teacher who is able to inspire and influence students.…

As I look back on the last two months of this course, the two Benedictine Hallmarks that jump out at me the most are discipline and obedience. At this point in my life, I am a full time student and working part time at Edward Hospital in Naperville. I am doing nothing but growing and learning every day of the week. Because of this, discipline and obedience are so necessary in my everyday schedule. I am not only trying to better myself and learn as much as I possibly can but I am also trying to make connections with people in the attempt to maximize my total development as an individual. You can learn so much from the people that you encounter everyday whether it be big impressions or small. I want to focus solely on my school work in order…
