Beowulf Vs Achilles
Beowulf and Achilles are similar because Beowulf fought the dragon knowing he was going to die but he did it to protect the others, while Achilles also went to battle in the Trojan war also knowing he was going to die as well. Achilles and Beowulf are both skilled in fighting, they were courages, and selfless. Both characters fight a numerous amount of enemies but winning on their own as the outcome. Achilles and Beowulf were the leaders for their tribes, they also were well known for their battles. Achilles fought humans while Beowulf fought monsters. Both characters wanted fame and glory. Beowulf gains speed after eating the nectar fruit.

    Both Beowulf and Achilles encounter immense challenges in which they refuse to flee from. Once Grendel’s mother seeks revenge for her son’s death, Beowulf wholeheartedly accepts the challenge by saying, “let us immediately set forth on the trail of this troll-dam” (Heaney 97). Though Beowulf’s willingness to defeat Grendel’s mother is just a singular example, throughout the entire novel, Beowulf acts on courage whatever the challenge.     Beowulf’s first heroic traits were his use of strtength and courage. With his courage he was able to stand up and protect his fellow people and with his strength it helped him defate his eniemies.
