Benny Hinn Paper
In 1952, Benny Hinn was born in Jaffa, Israel. Benny Hinn was raised within the Eastern Orthodox tradition. His father was Greek, and his mother was Armenian. A little after The Six-Day War, Benny and his family immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There he attended the Georges Vanier Secondary School, but left early. While being a teenager in Toronto, Benny converted from Greek Orthodoxy to Pentecostalism. He eventually joined a group of young evangelicals to sing with. In a 2004 CNN report on Benny, they made it seem like he was a religious fanatic. Benny was mentored and taught the bible by Dr Winston I. Nunes of Broadview Faith Temple in Toronto. On December 21, 1973, Benny took a charter bus all the way from Toronto to Pittsburg to attend a miracle service conducted by Kathryn Kuhlman. After moving to the United States, Benny traveled to Orlando Florida, where, in 1983, he founded the Orlando Christian Center. Soon, Benny began to claim that God was using him for healings, and beagin to hold healing services in his church. His services were then soon held at large stadiums and auditoriums across the United States and the world. The first Nationally televiced service was held in Flint, Michigan, in 1989. Benny then started a new daily talk show, during the early 1990s, called This is Your Day. The program first showed on the Trinity Broadcasting Network of Paul Crouch, who would become one of Benny's most outspoken defenders and allies. As Benny's ministry began to grow, praise as well as criticism from fellow Christian leaders also began to grow. Benny then stepped down as pastor of the Orlando Christian Center in 1999. He moved his ministry's administrative headquarters to Grapevine, Texas, while hosting This Is Your Day from a television studio in Orange County, California, which is where he lives with his family now.
