As a child, Benjamin Franklin was fascinated about lighting. Many years later, he had a theory. He believed that lightning could be a powerful source of energy. To test his theory, he flew his kite with a key attached to it hoping to harness the power of electricity. His theory was proven, and that is why electricity exists today. Not only was Benjamin Franklin a scientist and inventor, he was also one of America's greatest leaders. When he was governor of Pennsylvania, he signed the Peace Treaty in order to prevent further rebellion and conflict throughout the thirteen colonies. He was also in an organization to prevent slavery from further going on. Not only that, but he signed the U.S. Constitution with other great American leaders, like George Washington. He was one of the major contributors that led America to freedom. Benjamin Franklin made a huge impact in history. Many things he discovered are still used today.
