Horses have greatly impacted man throughout history. He has helped man plow his fields, harvest his food, drive him to town, and carry his loads. Nowadays, the use of the horse has drastically changed. Although some groups such as the Amish still use horses for field work, logging, and transportation, horses have become companions for man and a source of entertainment. I have been riding horses and ponies since I was a little girl. Horses are wonderful friends, they can sense how you feel and have wonderful therapeutic benefits. There are even organizations that allow those with disabilities to ride horses for therapeutic purposes. There are many means of acquiring horses. People sell horses at auction, through ads on the computer, and word of mouth. Some people even swap horses. As a first-time horse buyer, you must make sure that you are prepared before you purchase a horse, however that might be. You must have shelter for the horse with adequate pasture (2-3 acres per horse), a clean water supply, and a full wallet! Horses cost a lot of money.
