Benefits of Animal Testing
Animal testing is the right thing to do

“Animal testing is a type of research that has been going on for hundreds of years dating back to the ancient Greeks. It is used in many different ways, but mainly to prevent harm from being brought upon humans” (Hamblin 1). There have been long controversies between animal rights, and pros on animal testing, and the issue is growing more and more as our science develop more and better. Those who oppose on animal testing argues, that animal treatment is extremely inhumane, or animals have rights like human have rights of their own, and there are some economic matters, which is that animal experiments are high in cost. The arguments from animal rights group are reasonable, but there are some important issues that most of the people should not forget about, and which is the fact, the real world, that has been developed over time. Animal practices, or animal experiments must be on action, for its benefits to human and other animals. Stepping aside all the inhumane acts, and cruelty of treatment of animals, animal testing is extremely beneficial to human and other animals, throughout the years. It has been helpful in many areas such as medications, cosmetics, household products and even in pure researches. That is the fact. Heaven Stubblefield in Medical Science stated that “all the amazing breakthroughs that have already come from animal testing research such as organ transplant and open-heart surgery techniques; life saving drugs; effective insulin and cancer treatments; and vaccines for deadly diseases like polio, rabies, rubella, and tuberculosis. Animal testing also benefits the lives of animals such as the heartworm medicine that has saved many dogs lives” (1). This the fact that people should focus on. All the benefits from animal testing, is incredible. Animal testing helps to improve the development of medication. “Many medical treatments have been made possible by animal testing, including cancer and HIV

Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, or in vivo testing, often uses non-human animals in experiments to test the safety of products and has been a topic of heated debate for decades. Although some research uses animals only for natural behaviors observation, F. Barbara Orlans claimed in her book, In the Name of Science: Issues in Responsible Animal Experimentation, that more than sixty percent of all animals used in animal testing suffer from experiment procedure or even get killed in biomedical research and product-safety testing. On the one hand, successful animal testing can lead to medical cures and treatments for human beings, on the other hand, opponents are doubting the reliability of animal…

Not only humans, but animals also benefit from the use of animal testing. In fact, if animals aren’t used for medical research certain vaccines for rabies, hepatitis and other diseases wouldn’t be curable (Trull). However, many people argue that the human anatomy differs from that of animals. Nonetheless, animals and humans still share common features. For example, monkeys, just like humans, share the same fundamental use of hormones to counteract infections, which has helped scientist improve research (Trull). For the people who doubt animal testing should go to hospitals and look at patients who have survived from illnesses and diseases, because if it had not been for animals lives wouldn’t be…

In animal testing, countless animals are experimented on and then killed after their use is up. Some are injured and will still live the remainder of their life in captivity. The doctors will not do anything to help the animals that are in pain that happen to be the reason because of them. It is the aspect of animals testing that many view as a major negative against the practice, as it seems that the animal died in vain because no direct benefit to humans occurred. Even though animals and humans have many things in common like how we both have the same organ system, there are also many things that are different between animals and humans. Many animals cannot handle or take the same medication as humans, most the surgeries that are operated on animals are just too strong for an animal to take so they end up dying or sick for the rest of their lives. Some say animal testing is wrong, unethical, and unfair, but what would the world be like without animal testing? Who knows? Could there be many more fatal sicknesses? More life threatening diseases? Thousands of deaths from the common cold? In a few years, courtesy of animal testing, we could even have a cure for cancer! Animal research is imperative because there would be no advances in curing diseases or in developing vaccinations or prescriptions, which would lead to more sickness and more serious consequences for even the common cold.…
