Being Loud and Assertive: Protection to Gender
Decades and generations ago, men and women seemed to have firmer codes to behave; men could be loud and assertive, but women were expected to be meek and feminine. Men and women had certain rules to follow and hold as they communicate with one another. However, I don’t think that these traditional “rules” are followed anymore. In today’s generation, some men and women still hold their roles as they communicate, but most men and women today can be the opposite or both. Women now are usually loud and assertive which shows strength and protection to their own gender. There are also some men who are caring and feminine and they are not out of the ordinary. My friend Faye, as an example, is a very loud and assertive woman who works at a fast food restaurant. She does a job that men usually do and she accomplishes it well by the way she communicates with her fellow crew members and customers. Customers can be rude at times and in her workplace, people could be very disrespectful and harassing but, her attitude and the way she assertively communicates with them protect her from being disrespected. Another example is my father; he works in the morning and takes care of my mom when he gets off from work. I can not only describe him as a caring father and husband, but he is also a philanthropist. I noticed that he speaks in a very well-mannered position and modestly communicates with people. He also does chores that women usually do such as cooking and taking care of the children.
