Beer Pong Informative Speech Outline
Title: Beer (Water) Pong
Purpose: To inform the audience on the proper procedures to be taken while playing beer (water) pong.
Thesis: I’m going to talk about the proper materials and set-up of the game, the rules, and the best beers to use for the game.

Introduction

1. Attention Getter: Looking to lighten up a party? Break out the Pong Table.

2. Audience: Fun for everyone, people looking for a competitive party game or for people looking for a drunken stupor. 50 to 62 percent of college students admit to playing drinking games (Correia, & Cameron, 2010), so I might as well teach them how to play right.

3. Thesis: I am going to discuss the proper set up of the game, the rules, and (hypothetically) the best beers to use.

Body I. Set up and materials A. 2 standard ping pong balls, 20, 16oz “Solo” cups, and a table (preferably a ping pong table) B. Cups are to be arranged in a pyramid shape with the back row centered on the edge of the table

II. The Official Rules ("World series of," 2011) A. 2 teams of two people alternate taking shots other than the first shot. First possession is decided at an earlier time. If a team sinks both of their shots, one ball is returned for an extra shot B. Bounce shots are allowed, but still only count for one cup. Grabbing and swatting is only allowed after the ball as bounced off the table or a cup.

C. Cups knocked over are to be reset and the shot will be replayed unless the ball was obviously in the cup before it was knocked over D. Distractions are allowed as long as it does not interfere with the air surrounding the cups or cross the plane of play E. No player may take offense to insults.

F. Players allowed to play with water

G. Being late= forfeit, “taking a nap” will result in a slap

H. When the last cup is hit, the teams whose cup was sunk gets to shoot until they miss to try and make a comeback victory

When the game was first created there weren't really any rules on how the game was supposed to be played, now there are rules that players must obey. Those rules have changed over the years, though the basics have stayed relatively the same. For example, when playing there is a certain number of players allowed on each team that can be playing at once. And when a player is eliminated from the game, he is only able rejoin the game if it doesn't exceed the number of players allowed on the court at one time. Also, when players reenter the game, they must do so in the same order that they were eliminated in.…

A “beer bust” sounds fun and relaxing. However Bill Carter makes a good point, serving alcohol at a company’s sponsor party can be a huge liability on the company’s future. Recently an employee by the name of John Hooker lost his balance and fell on the snack table during one of the “beer bust” events. Luckily John didn’t get hurt. When having these types of events the company cannot guarantee that a person like John will not over drink and possibly drive home drunk and cause a serious accident. These are all things that Quantum needs to take into consideration. Accidents happen all the time and Quantum needs be aware that these “beer bust” can be a great liability to the company.…
