Bedside Shift Reporting Memo
STAFF STAY INTERVIEWS

I have updated the stay interview calendar, and sign in sheet for the month of February and post it on the post it office door. I will continue to block the 30 minute slots on the calendar to ensure timeliness of the meeting. Please schedule yourself accordingly as we move forward into completion. I have enjoyed the time spent with each staff members in sharing ideas and positive feedback during the stay interviews. I’m also looking forward to spending more time with each one of you and share ideas as we move forward in advancing clinical excellence and approaches that will help make your employment stay a pleasant stay on the unit as

The next schedule period lock date is on 1/29/17. Please remember you are all required to work weekends, unless prior arrangement has been made. Again, I will make every attempt to accommodate scheduling requests. However, please be mindful that the schedule must be balanced to ensure adequate staffing. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me prior to posting the next schedule. If you are attending college/ school or have special considerations, please advise me in advance, and I will make every attempt to accommodate your staffing needs.
BEDSIDE SHIFT REPORT

Bedside shift reporting is a National Health Care Initiative, and the most effective collaborative method of communication. All nurses and PCA’s are required to give a bedside shift report and rounding with your patient, No Exception! PRACTICE THE 5 STEPS OF BEDSIDE REPORT:
 Introduction of the new nurse.
 Informing the patient and family of shift change.
 Bring the WOW into the patient room.
 Utilize SBAR Reporting and focused assessment.
 Setting patient-centered goal, including updating the white board to reflect the patient plan of care

    Eventually, the interest in bedside report dies down, leaving only lukewarm attempts at introductions of on-coming staff by off-going staff to the patient after shift report has been done away from the bedside, this called a warm hand-off.
