CLASS SUMMARY (Quilted)
In “Becoming a Writer,” by Russell Baker, he narrates how he became a writer. In high school, he hated writing essays. Baker describes his instructor, Mr. Fleagle, as a very neat and precise person. He assigned/He asked Baker t write/ The instructor asked the students to write an assignment/essay. While he was writing the assignment, he didn’t follow the assignment/instructions/directions that Mr. Fleagle gave him. Baker thought his teacher would disapprove of the essay. Surprisingly, Mr. Fleagle read Baker’s essay out loud to the whole class, and they all enjoyed it. At that time, Baker felt great and he recognized what an essay could be/what writing a successful essay could feel like/ ho w it felt to move people through writing. From that day, Baker, learned to like writing.
