Becoming A Firefighter Research Paper
Are woman “physically capable” to be firefighters? Women are physically capable of doing anything they set their minds to. Men and women can do the same job. Sex should not decide on if someone is capable of doing the task at hand. In my opinion, women are capable of becoming a firefighter. It depends on experience, education, and stamina of any sex to be a firefighter. In my experience working with a woman, they can work as hard if not harder than men in the same field. All you need is experience in the field of a firefighter to become a firefighter. Today firefighting companies will train men or women to become a firefighter without any experience due to the high demand. All you have to do is be able to pass a physical test which includes

Third, the thesis is demonstrated through firefighter Anthony Smiljanic’s perspective. Anthony is apart of the Los Angeles Fire Department, and during all the rioting, he sees first hand, the things people say, and the way people feel. For instance, it is on Day 3 of the riot when he says, “There’s nothing to do but stare at new red, blue, or black graffiti that says, ‘F**k the Police,’ and ‘F**k the National Guard,’ and ‘Kill Whitey,’ and try not to take it personal (156) . . . I’ve never seen anything like it” (156). Smilijanic understands both sides of the riot, and tries to be completely unbiased and unprejudiced whilst doing his job - unlike the police who arguably started this whole riot. Smilijanic witnesses his superior Gutierrez when…

One legend is at a barn located on the land of Patrick and Catherine O’ Leary at 137 DeKoven Street on the city’s southwest side and the fire started when the family’s cow kicked over the lantern and it lighted the hay and the barn caught on fire. Before the Great Chicago Fire the city average was 2 fires per day. In 1997, the Chicago City Council exonerated Mrs. O’ Leary and her cow. She turned into a recluse after the fire and she died in 1895.…

This world is a curse because they don’t value life at all. To them, if someone dies it’s not a big deal. An example of this is one page 29 and it says, “Fireman in Seattle, purposely set Mechanical Hounds to his own chemical complex and let it loose.” This is wrong in many ways. To start off, the fireman has their own personal killing machine that they can use for their own use. The fireman might even have a game with these vicious killing machines for entertainment. The fireman doesn't even care if a bunch of people die so that they could gain entertainment. On page 32 they have these 5 steps that they have to follow. It just consists of going to burn everything and waiting for the next alarm to go off to burn something…

When comparing the criteria for women and men being recruited for becoming a law enforcement would be considered the same as far as the mental mindset, the age group and background checks. I think that the only thing that may be considered slightly different would be the strength training however, women are still required to be able to pass the physical part in order to graduate to becoming an officer. The duties of protecting the communities are same both sex are expected to respect and follow the law and give 100% at all times.…

I think that women are just as capable of being able to hold down a combat position just as good as a man in the military. I am a veteran of the United States Army, and I served three years in the military. I have firsthand experience on what a day in the life of a female soldier is. I was stationed at fort Lewis Washington and I was assigned orders to first brigade in the twenty-fifth infantry battalion. Our company and battalion was a majority of men, and there was like ten to each woman on post.…

But why you ask? Here are just a few things people might say to argue against women being able to cooperate in combat duties. Opposing side: There's always the risk of a woman getting pregnant. They've had woman getting pregnant right before deployment or finding out during their deployment and have to get shipped back immediately. Me: Yeah, if a woman was serious about her job, she would take better precautions before going out. If anyone does get pregnant, neither the man nor the woman is ready for the job then. Opposing side: They don't have the strength. What if they were going out into battle and one of their men collapsed, and couldn't get up on his own. Not only would they be able to pick them up, there's like 30 more pounds of equipment on them. Me: They don't let women with no strength out into combat. They get training, a lot of training, and only the strong, smart, fast women get sent…

This argument makes sense because the physical side of women are lower than man. In basic training the standards of physical fitness have been set to suit men, and women attempting to reach them will over-stretch themselves. Also there is a factor of enemy abuse while both male and females are at risk of torture and rape, but misogynistic societies may be more willing to abuse women prisoners. However women have proven to be a good support in the combat system with morale, tradition and mission effectiveness. In the end there are more positives than negatives for women being allowed to serve in the combat…
