“The Philippine Banknotes New Generation”

It is said that central banks redesign banknotes every 10 years. This is to prevent counterfeiters to produce exact copies of the current banknotes. But our former currency series has been in place for almost 25 years. That is why the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas decided to change our banknotes. It was December 6, 2010 when the new banknotes became available. All six of our banknotes have new designs but have the same size and color as the former currency series. There is a new BSP logo and Seal of the Republic of the Philippines in all of our new bills. They also featured different species, world heritage sites and iconic natural wonders here in the Philippines. For example, the known Banaue Rice Terraces is in the 20-peso bill, the Taal Lake in the 50-peso bill, the Mayon Volcano in the 100-peso bill and the famous Chocolate Hills in the 200-peso bill. Some species which are only found here in the Philippines are also included in the new banknotes like the Gian Trevally which is in the 50-peso bill, Butanding in the 100-peso bill, the Tarsier in 200-peso bill and the Blue-naped parrot in the 500-peso bill. The new banknotes still pay tribute to the Filipinos who played significant roles at various events of our nation’s history. They retained them in the Philippine banknotes, only they look younger and happier. The former banknotes are said to remain in circulation and will continue to be accepted for at least three years. This will give the public enough time to make full transition to our new generation currency. They are also planning change the current coins which are circulating in our country. But according to them, it will also take time to make this possible. The BSP said that the new Philippine banknotes will still be made of 80% cotton and 20% abaca; this is to support Filipino abaca farmers. We have been using abaca in our banknotes for a very long time, for it has improved durability and extended the life span of our banknotes. That is why they decided to still use abaca in our new generation currency. The BSP also said that the new generation currency series will be user friendly for the public. This is because the new generation banknotes have security features which can be easily recognized without even using special instruments. The new security features such as the watermark, security thread and security fibers even made the new generation banknotes harder to counterfeit. All in all, the new generation banknotes are made obviously better and more secured than our former currency series.

The P-notes are similar to the commercial bills of exchange with some differences. The P-note is a promise to pay while the bill is an order to pay. While the P-notes do not require the sellers to endorse the note, the commercial bills of exchange require the endorsement of the sellers. The P-notes enjoy the option of selling the notes in the money market without paying a future debt. However, as the P-notes do not require seller endorsement and are a form…

Of the critical essays assigned I found Simone De Beauvoir’s to be the most useful to me in terms of its effect on my own interpretations of literary texts, films, music videos, comics, and every other strata of media created by human hands. Beauvoir’s concept of woman as “mystery” as an “other” that is typically defined, not by her own character and agency, but in relation to her role within the patriarchal structure of society. Six decades after The Second Sex, female characters still largely represent the alien “other” that is either an object to be attained by male authority or as a wicked usurper and dissident to it. The prevalence of this reductive binary of female representation can perhaps be most commonly seen in contemporary popular-…

Back in the late 1600s in New France, paper money was officially being used in what is now Canada. The lack of coins available made it so colony officials find a different form of currency, and their solution was to use playing cards. These cards would be signed and cut a certain way to represent a certain denomination. Some of these playing cards even had a value of $10 This happens before Canada becomes an official country, which is great way to represent the bank note, because like New France, they are both base to great potential…

In the past 20 years Bangladesh’s annual rate of GDP growth has been among the lowest in the region, averaging about 4%. It has the world’s highest population density. The government plans to make the taka fully convertible on the capital account over the next year or two (1996, 1997). In recent years it has been stable, depreciating by only about 2%.…

It is not a new phenomenon but is there for ages, early currencies were usually in the form of gold or silver coins and whenever the government was short of money or metals, they abruptly decrease the weight of coins, but today’s modern age of flat currencies does not come with any significant inherent value, and their value is maintained by a fixed exchange rate policy against the US dollar or other major currencies in the world.…

Auguste Comte (1798 - 1857) was a French positivist thinker and came up with the term of sociology to name the new science made by Saint-Simon.One universal law that Comte saw at work in all sciences he called the 'law of three phases'. It is by his statement of this law that he is best known in the English-speaking world; namely, that society has gone through three phases: Theological, Metaphysical, and Scientific. He also gave the name "Positive" to the last of these because of the polysemous connotations of the word.…

Financials institutions now see the peso ending weaker against the strong dollar. The paradigm shift was bought by an improving United State economy, which made US assets more attractive to investors, particularly after Federal Reserve may hinted at trimming its bond-buying stimulus as the economy further improves. A depreciation trend may not be avoided on strongest dollar sentiment because a positive on it is that a weaker peso is advantage to local industries and families overseas Filipino workers and it is good for the competitiveness of the Philippine economy, and it’s not only for good for exports but even for the entire local industries that compete with imports. Imports now become more expensive than the local products, so there would be more local production and by that it will create jobs. Increase purchasing power of OFW dependent families will spur consumer spending and in turn to drive economic growth. To a degree the recent weakness in PHP does allow the BPO to remain competitive, the pesos weakness highlighted volatility- or sudden ups and downs in the exchange rate but according to the analyst short-term volatility should not be cause for worry as the country’s foreign reserves recorded at $82.9 billion as of end of may which is provided by the BSP to cushion upsides risk. Inflation is not in focus because the BSP has likely been smoothing the movements in the PHP and the size of reserve suggests that it will be well placed to limit excessive volatility in either direction for the PHP said the HSBC. Currency traders at local foreign bank who requested anonymity to protect their positions in the spot market said the BSP intervenes in the market when peso moves, win or lose within the day. The adjustment in monetary policy will only be employed should a weaker peso significantly stoke inflation or a rise in consumer prices. At the moment this does not appear to be the case…

Our tour held at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, our guide discuss to us the rules and regulations of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Taking photos during the tour is not allowed, loitering, and noise are just some of the reminders that our tour guide told us. As we continue the tour I saw different portrait on the wall, and our tour guide said something about those portraits. Some of the portraits are the New generation money, etc. Our first area that we visited was the Passport Production Area. Were I didn’t expect that Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas also makes certificates and passports. SHEET INSPECTION AREA was our second destinations were we saw many BSP staffs inspect lots of sheets of money. We also went to SIMULTAN AREA were paper money were being cut into its proper shape and size and next to the INTAGLIO AREA, were different security codes are printed in paper money. We also visited to the NUMBERING AREA were the letters and numbers were being design in the money so that it can also be a feature of money. The last area in making paper money was the FINISHING AREA were finalization of the paper money was conducted. After we finished our tour in the areas of making the paper money, we went next to the areas of making the coins. We just passed by to the GOLD REFINERY DISPLAY ROOM were the gold’s are being kept. As we continue walking we arrive to the MELTING/CASTING AREA were gold’s are being melt for the purpose of making Philippine coins. But when we were in that area, we just saw only the machines, no staffs working. Simply no work, because of lack of gold’s. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas had no reserved gold because mining troops doesn’t want to sell gold’s for the BSP for the rate of the tax increases. We go to STAMPING AREA. Our tour in the areas of making coins ended at the BAGGING AREA of the Philippine coins. After having the tour, we purchased souvenirs from the BSP shop. We visited…
